Came on a rainy Wednesday in November. Plenty of parking outside and a great pit stop after exploring the landscape around hardknott pass. On entering there was only 1 other family there so it was very quiet. We rang the bell and were greeted by a lovely lady, we proceeded to order some food along with a well deserved pint. Really good value, tasty food that came out quick and was piping hot, we sat by the fire and just enjoyed this really quaint place. If in the area I would highly recommend stopping off.

Lovely bar & café, popular with walkers & locals alike. Great if you're walking to the Roman Fort at Hardknott Pass. The landlord has a friendly dog. Roaring fires (woodburning stoves), great ales & delicious food.

A very welcoming pub to refuel after a day walking. I would recommend their pizzas.

Got flat tyre on hardknott pass, this place was a life saver, lovely friendly staff, very helpful and great cooked all day breakfast, outdoor area looked lovely for a summers day after a walk up hardknott pass, camping locations nearby it seemed too, and rooms by the night, will return one day for sure -

Firstly I love this place and have been coming here for years. Stayed for 3 nights with friends who stayed for 2 nights. Rooms never cleaned. Had to ask for various bits for bedroom essentials. Breakfast was undercooked and had to ask for well done on last day. Decor needs updating and poor repairs need to stop. I understand they are understaffed as per the sign in the bar. Staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you. I just hope that this place survives.

Really nice accommodation and pub, lovely food especially the pizzas which you can also get to take out. The ensuite shower is amazing and very modern. The rooms have such comfy beds but can be a bit noisy due to other loud guests talking early in the morning on their way to breakfast and music from kitchen from below. So much to do nearby could have stayed a lot longer! WiFi very slow and TV didn't work well hardly any channels working.
