I've been buying chips from here on and off for many years and always found the food pleasant enough, with good portion sizes, albeit always on the expensive side.
I visited this evening and ordered two portions of chips from the vegetarian fryer and one cheesy chips from the normal fryer, I was shocked to get a bill of £13.70. They charge £5.70 for cheesy chips and the portion size and amount of cheese is much less than a couple of years ago. The chips were awful too, most of them small and crispy. Unfortunately I won't be returning to be exploited at tourist prices for poor food. Especially when there is a chippy less than 15 minutes away that does fish and chips for £7.00 and it's delicious.
On a positive note, it's nice to have vegetarian options not cooked in beef dripping.

Fish & chips nice though far too expensive. Only one choice on size of fish & of course that is large. Not everyone wants a large fish. Customers should have a smaller option of choice. Also closing at 8p.m is rather early

Expensive fish & chips if want to sit in. Used to go nearly every weekend a few years ago.
Fish portion one of the smallest l had in a while. Won?t be going again.

Went there on Thursday night. Paid nearly £24.00 for 2 pieces of cod and regular chips.
The food was disgusting absolutely inedible.

Came back after about 18 years looking forward to their fish and chips.
To say we were disappointed would be an understatement the fish was dripping in grease and was cold even though we were only 5 minutes away and the chips were tastless and also cold.
It seems they are living on their name, not good at all we certainly wont be back.

We were really disappointed by tonight's offering from Port and Starboard. We've used this restaurant for nearly 20 years, and always been delighted with the quality of fish and chips. Tonight we had two haddock and a portion of chips. One portion was very small and looked like a child's meal, the other which looked more positive was so thin that the fish inside the batter was like a waifer. We won't be back.

Disappointing. Sticky tables, broken chair, small fish portions and fairly expensive. They use dripping fat to cook the chips so they have a very greasy taste. The Tartare sauce didn't taste great either. £75.00 for 4 x fish and chips with no extras - dine in.

Very good first time coming here as we recently moved to the area lovely chips and amazing portion of cheese, i give 5 as there was loads of chips too. Will have to eat in soon, thanks again, and service was Amazing very quick service also.
