“The only disappointment we had was our evening meal. When we booked the table we were informed that we had to be prompt, their word. We turned up 5 minutes before our booked time so we were 'prompt'. We were met and very nicely greeted and shown to our table, a little while later we ordered some drinks and given a menu. Our drinks arrived and whilst we were ready to order our food the order wasn't taken. After about 30 minutes I asked the waitress if there was a problem, she apologised and said they were short staffed in the kitchen and took our dinner ordered, it was 1 hour 20 minutes after our booked time before our 1st course was brought to the table which I think is pretty poor. The restaurant that evening wasn't particularly busy, there was 9 tables being used with 25 people seated. The waitresses of which there were 3 were very good and one was very apologetic telling me that she had informed her manager that we were unhappy with the service, we never saw the manager which again was poor, you would have thought they would have not only apologised to my wife and I but would have supported the waitress.”

“Called in on Sunday evening for dinner. Good variety on the menu. 9 in my group a great oval table at the front of the dining room. Everyone really enjoyed there food. Staff friendly and helpful. Sunday roasts was popular as was the buttermilk chicken in a basket.”

“An overnight stay with dinner in the first week of August with hubby was most enjoyable. Large ensuite room overlooking the garden was comfortable and relaxing. We dined in the restaurant and was served by an attentive and hard working waiter. All in all a most pleasant breakaway.”

“We came here for a friend's wedding. The whole day was superb. From the civil ceremony out on the rear lawned area to the evening entertainment indoors everything was brilliantly delivered.The food both the Wedding Breakfast and evening warm finger buffet were superb. Every member of staff including those serving at the bars were impeccably dressed and wonderfully polite.The Wedding Coordinator who had clearly worked well with the bride, groom and family and friends involved in the days' preparations.All-in-all it was one of the most enjoyable weddings we've ever attended. I feel sure the bride and groom were pleased with it all. I know we as guests thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.Food & drinks: Highly quality produce, well cooked and served that was very well presented. The drinks both alcoholic and soft were very reasonably priced.Noteworthy details: The hotel catered for and helped to coordinate and manage the complete wedding experience all on the site here in Tarporley.The location gives a lovely balance of high quality, peaceful and tranquil with that personal touch larger hotels often struggle to maintain.”
