Sub89 is a lively venue that?s great for gigs and club nights, with an atmosphere that always feels energetic and fun. The sound system is strong and the space is big enough to hold a crowd while still feeling intimate. Drinks are reasonably priced for a music venue and the staff keep things running smoothly at the bar and doors. It can get packed on busy nights but that adds to the vibe, making it a good spot if you?re after live music or a night out in Reading.

For me, this has to be one of the best venues around. It is small enough that there are never mass crowds to the point where it is unpleasant. The bar is well staffed with decent prices on the beer. Toilets are large and well maintained. The sound system is very good and due to its size, you can nearly always see, even if you are super short!

Well positioned in Reading next to the Train / Buses and opposite Siren Craft Brewery tap room this is a compact but not unpleasant multimodal venue. Went there for a metal gig and did enjoy it bonus point for the sound which wasn't terrible.

Very small place.
Men more than women like 80% we can barely see them, and the ones in place were in couple.
Few people only that night, maybe because of the festival.
Honestly I didn't like it, not worth it.

Brilliant music venue. I saw Newton Faulkner. Staff were friendly, speedy service at the bar and toilets were clean and plentiful for the ladies! ?

Good little venue, first time there for Hi-on Maiden plus original metal support acts. Sound was clear but lacked bass thud in your chest! One star off for pissy gents.

Nice venue but took over 30 minutes to get a drink. Put a huge downer on the whole night. Not enough staff and the ones working were slooooow. Also no cloakroom attendant so the bar staff having to double up and take people's coats.

Overall a Good Friday not that out.
I really like Sub 89.
Country music tonight and packed out.
TBH the bar is a nightmare ??
Too many punters, not enough staff and a wait of 30 minutes to get a drink.
A few pints of Neck Oil and some wine en down well. A great crack and you can?t help talking to people and having a laugh.
Lots of cowboy boots and hats.
Started about 8 and finished at 10 ?
Most people get or take free entry into pop world down below.
Not the first time I?ve been and not the last.
Sort the bar out guys it?s a big downer.
Great night out though.
