“On arrival we were met with warmth that remained throughout our short stay. The rooms were ready ahead of the official check in time which was a bonus and we quickly dumped our bags and headed for lunch. Fish and chips, a rare roast beef sandwich and macaroni cheese were all enjoyed with a fresh bottle of the house white.
After a quick change, we then headed to the spa which was a little underwhelming. It was incredibly warm and felt somewhat dated. The circular pool is totally impractical for anybody actually wanting to swim and the two levels made it feel as if there was somewhat of a viewing gallery (the last thing I would want when in swimwear!) Regardless we enjoyed a dip and a jacuzzi and were able to enjoy a good catch up.
The rooms were spacious (as were the bathrooms) and very comfortable and had everything you could need from toiletries, to a coffee machine to bathrobes and slippers. The decor wasn’t to my taste and again felt a little dated but it didn’t detract from how comfortable it all was.
Drinks and dinner followed and the food was fantastic (the trout and venison being particularly highlights). We had a deal with our room that included £50 towards dinner (although we managed to spend considerably more) and money off any chosen bottle on the wine list which was a wonderful opportunity to order something that we wouldn’t ordinarily choose. The wine list is extensive and with a broad range of prices which made it accessible to all.
Breakfast was relaxed and delicious with plenty of warm options to cater to all tastes. The scrambled eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had and all of it was accompanied by the warmest service.!
The hotel overall is nice but has a business vibe and although it didn’t disturb us is very close to the main road with limited grounds. The service is a real strength as is the food and if you’re a wine enthusiast then this is a great place to explore the cellar!
Rooms: Very spacious and comfortable
Food and drinks: High quality dishes in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and a very extensive and appealing wine list.”
“Great weekend stay here up from Torbay for my daughters wedding. Cost for the room was fabulous. Only issue was I had my older mother in law and it was advertised with a lift and there wasn't one. Rooms were clean, joined to the pub was perfect for food. Food was cheap and good quality.
Also the area was amazing, set in a little square of shops. Markets each morning, friendly staff. Close to train station and everything we needed.
It was that good we will book again just to have a look around newbury.
Thank you”
“a regular monthly stay over with easy access to my college in Abingdon. consistent high quality expected of a Premier Inn but the unique aspect of this one in Newbury is that it's nestled inside some bushes and has its own private open field, the perfect setting for a nice drink and snack in the setting sun-- feels like you're in the country. breakfast staff Jane, Michelle, Charley and Jess are amazing-- genuine and pleasant”

“Very clean and quiet, staff very helpful, no cooked breakfast but they do breakfast box to go, containing cornflakes with own bowl and spoon and milk, small bottle of water,
pain chocolate bun, oat flapjack.
There is a Starbucks next door and also McDoalds a short walk away, ample parking.”
“Visited for afternoon tea, well worth what we paid (Groupon deal). Sat outside in the garden which was nice, as it was a sunny day. Staff very attentive and bringing refills of tea. Hotel does look a bit run down since my last visit.”

“Nice basic Travelodge, only paid £26 for the one night which was exeptional value!. Really close to the town cntre. No parking on site but 2x carparks relatively close by so wasnt a problem. Rooms were well maintained and clean, nice big comfy bed, didn't have a hair dryer in the room but again wasn't an issue for one night. All in all a pleasant 1 night stay”
