“I'm a returning guest to this hotel. Rooms and facilities are all good.Excellent service at the spacious bar from Ellroy this evening, who mixed a superb espresso martini. Thank you Ellroy.”
“Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Was in Reading for training. From checking in to checking out, was a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and professional, they couldn't do enough for us.The hotel was advertised as 3 stars and therefore I was not looking forward to staying there. But the quality of service and condition of the room was beyond my expectations.I stayed in a Premier Plus room with walk-in shower, temperature control, complimentary water (still and sparkling) in a mini fridge, ironing board/iron and tea making facilities. It was a very clean and comfortable room.Breakfast was included at extra cost. For secure WiFi it was £5, or you could use basic WiFi for free.Breakfast was basic but satisfying. My stay here was worth the money and I will return. Thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and helpful.”
“EDIT: The food was great, however the review was written by your staff member who told us there was a deal on for a free drink if you did something online - he actually used mine and my daughters phone to do this (write his own review) and we only realised this was done on receipt of an email from google. This aside the gentleman was very friendly. Our issue however was at check in - I booked a twin room as I was sharing with my 18 year old daughter but was put in a double. When I went down to explain this to the lady on reception I was told I had booked a double and loudly and aggressively called 'madam!’ She did then tell us they had plenty of twins left in a rather sarcastic way and then put us in what can only be described as a broom cupboard from the outside (picture included - ours was the middle door set back slightly). The wall paper in the room was peeling and my daughter screamed when a large spider crawled out as she untucked the duvet to get into bed…Thank you crowne plaza for a perfect experience.Breakfast is amazing”
“I had always wanted to try the Novotel Reading because it is next to the IBIS I know quite well (very good too).I wanted a local getaway for my 50th and I was treated like a queen. I am very pleased with the overall experience.”
“It's always lovely.coming here. The food is great, the drinks are average priced (for being in the south). Its warm and inviting atmosphere keeps you there. Have been here a few times to celebrate birthdays etc, and will definitely be doing so again.”
“I was warmly welcomed especially by Prachi at the reception, the room was cozy, the meal great and would recommend the Holiday Inn the any one on the move and would like a nice place to feel welcomed and to relax.”

“Nice location near motorway but country setting. Good chef and brewer pub next door with hilariously grumpy manager. We didn't interact with him but he made basil fawlty look friendly... great entertainment! Single put up bed in room super comfortable! On the whole, pretty spiffing! (Grumpy pub manager was highlight though!)”
“I booked this hotel primarily because of it's so close to the train station but I was delighted by the quality of whole package. The room was clean, spacious and welcoming, the food at the bar in the evening and breakfast in the morning were superb and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Anna, her friendly professionalism is a credit to her employer - somebody give that lady a pay rise ?”
“I've stayed in this hotel twice already and my experience is always good. The front desk people are always nice. The place is close to the city center and one can easily get the daily necessities. Their bar also serve good options of drinks and food.”

“Pleasant, helpful service from all staff members. Convenient location. I visited on a hot sunny weekend and each time I returned from a day out there was no trouble finding a parking bay. Good car parking facility. I can't comment on food as I did not eat there. TV, kettle and drinks facility, shower gel and towels provided in the room. Also provided was a fan, thankfully, as was a heatwave, so it was a blessing indeed. No hairdryer or iron, but I understand you only had to ask at reception if one was required. Good shower. Bed was OK, but didn't like the pillow at all and the loo seat was askew and needed fixing, but good room at a good price deal for three nights. I would stay again as there were no issues and it was very handy for the railway station for Windsor & Eton.”
“The receptionist was very helpful when helping me move rooms into a spacious accessible room which they adapted to be a twin room, after my trip was extended. However there were multiple problems with the lifts (sometimes with a wait of over 15 minutes and sometimes not working at all which was acknowledged with a note on the second day) which the staff had initially dismissed as the fault of patrons pressing both the up arrow and down arrow to call the lift. When a person applies for an accessible room it is understandable that they are concerned that the lifts don't work and so they are "trapped" unable to go out or make use of the attached Beefeater restaurant. The hotel appears to be surrounded by car sales rooms so isn't immediately identifiable. There is a useful supermarket next door. It is within easy distance to Reading city and the university.Rooms: Both the twin room and the accessible room transformed into a twin were very comfortable. The beds were a suitable height to allow easy access. During the shower there was an increasing deepening level of water in the wet room which made it difficult to safely move away from the shower stoolSafety: During the shower there was an increasing deepening level of water in the wet room which made it difficult to safely move away from the shower stoolThe non-working lifts meant guests with Mobility issues either being "trapped" in the room or struggling to go down and up steep stairs - and nothing appeared to be done about recording what additional help might be needed in the case of an emergencyWalkability: If there are any patrons who have mobility difficulties asking for a low level floor might be a good idea as there seemed to be policy of dismissing concerns over the lifts not working rather than trying to ease problems for the guests or offering a room service for missed meals”
“Comfortable and clean, the hotel is in the middle of being updated so there is building work going on which wasn't an issue, rooms are in need of an upgrade which is why work is being done. Staff lovely and friendly.”
“We spent a delightful Christmas week at The Elephant, using it as our home base while visiting family in Caversham. Spacious, quiet room and well-appointed bathroom (with oversized heated towel rack which came in handy for wet walking clothes), and delicious meals, both breakfast and dinner. Easy access to trains to London, as well as walking paths. Very pleased with our stay!”

“We stayed at the Narrowboat on a cold January night. The deluxe rooms were beautifully warm, lovely and clean. Comfortable bed with crisp white sheets, beautiful decor and very spacious..We had a very nice meal with friends and also a great breakfast of smashed avocado on sourdough with eggs, which was excellentFantastic location and overall a very enjoyable stay.”
“The hotel was very clean throughout, the service was good and the team were definitely 5 star, the only reason I gave it 4 stars was the poor quality floor in my room and the fact that at peak times there was literally no hot water as demand had exceeded supply - have a look at the photos. These were minor things though. I would definitely stay again, the breakfast was well prepared and plentiful and it was the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in. Overall, very nice, many thanks!!”

“Really good stay, room and bedding was clean and fresh, TV needed retuning but didn't bother me. Noise of M4 can be heard of your on the back of the hotel so front rooms probably a bit quieter.”

“It's dated yes. But a decent bed, coffee and tea in room and very clean. Staff very polite. Very good value for money, good location in quiet but safe area. Cannot complain. If I need I will come back there.”
“This isn't that bad. Clean, but a bit tired and in need of a refresh.
No AC, so it gets very hot.
It was very cheap. You get what you pay for!”
“What a lovely experience we had last week when my husband and I called into the Holiday Inn Reading West. We called in without an appointment to talk about accommodation options for ourselves, family and guests for out daughter's forthcoming wedding at Ufton Court. We were really impressed by the welcome we received from Nessa and Lisa from the moment we walked into the hotel reception. Thankyou Lisa for walking us through the lovely seating and dining areas and for the coffees / chocolates. We were also really impressed with your attention to detail and effort you have made in the garden courtyard area.Based on our experience last week we have decided to book rooms at the hotel for ourselves and will pass on details to wider family and friends. We know we won't be disappointed and feel confident we will be getting a professional but homely experience with Nessa in charge. We will definitely be calling in again for coffee / lunch during our wedding preparation visits to the area.”
