It's a nice family run garden centre. Would be 5 star if they fixed all the leaks!

Went yesterday at 11am. reasonably busy for a Monday.Shop is well laid out and indoor plant section has great choice, at reasonable prices, as were most of theextensive selection of items sold.Ladies clothes has lovely mix of styles.Had coffe and cake in cafe, service to table was quick( no long queues to get drinks).5 star toilet facilities also. Staff were friendly and helpful.Would definitely recommend a visit.

First time at Laylocks most disappointing. The restaurant is too small for the number of tables, it's difficult to walk inbetween the tables without disturbing other guests! We ordered sausage and bacon baps, the baps were tasteless and burnt and the sausage and bacon was cold. I feel that the site is badly designed it didn't have that welcoming feeling.

Went for lunch at 1.40pm on a Monday and was told that hot food would be an hour wait!! It baffles me as to why people would go out of their way to do lunch here!!

I?m a regular customer but I will now think twice before going again.I go to Laylocks for breakfast a couple of weekends every few months. On Mother?s Day I took my mum out for breakfast, we knew it would be busy due to the day and the fact that week they expanded their restaurant seating from 60 to 150When we got there it was busy but not full, about 1/4 of tables were empty. We ordered two cooked breakfasts and I was advised it was a 30 minute wait (which we were fine with as it was busy). After 45 minutes I went up to the counter to ask how much longer. I was advised my order was the 5th in the queue so would be another 15 minutes wait, they got us some free drinks as an apology.Throughout our wait I could see more and more people getting up to complain. After 1 hour 25 minutes (!!!) I got up to ask for a refund unless it was going to be ready in the next few minutes.Pretty much at the same time our breakfasts finally came out (at this point about half the tables were empty). The food came out barely warm, some items were cold. Order was also wrong - one breakfast I asked for no tomato, it came with tomato - the other I asked for granary bread but got white (normally this wouldn?t be a big deal but after an hour and a half wait you would expect the order to be correct and at the very least hot). Before we left I went up to complain and they offered me a full refund and explained they were overwhelmed with the busyness and the increased capacity.I felt very sorry for the staff as they have clearly been set up for failure. I have no idea why the management would triple the capacity of the restaurant when the kitchen clearly cannot cope. I did point out to them that at no point was the restaurant anywhere near capacity (and that?s not even considering the outside seating). We were going to buy some gardening bits afterwards but were so disappointed we left without spending anymore money. Such a shame as we love Laylocks and visit often.

The only reason I gave 4 not 5 stars is because as excellent as the store is ( I?m a regular visitor) why oh why oh why would you not allow us to purchase your food from your dheli area and eat it in your cafe. The mark up on a cup of tea or coffee is far greater than on food generally. Why would you not allow me to purchase over £20 worth of food and eat it in the cafe. I would probably purchase a drink ( maybe). If not I?ve still put money in a till in the store. It costs you nothing it allows and encourages me to buy food from the dheli that to be honest is far tastier than the food I purchased in the cafe. Not too good. I love the fact that you are dog friendly but it was worse than a visit to the vets. Could you not have an area allocated for dog lovers. If this offends turn the tables and call it an area for humans with out a dog! I love dogs but this was very noisy and vey messy. I?d settle for just eating your lovely sausage rolls, cheese, pies or whatever I?ve purchased in your store. Same ?money pot? different till! Proof I purchased it in store? Give me a receipt at time of purchase. Come on. Good business sense. 5 of my friends left your store as we didn?t want anything from the cafe and so didn?t purchase anything to eat at all. Put a microwave at dheli to heat food. What is possibly the reason for this.

We weren't served our afternoon tea unitil over an hour after the slot that we booked and the vegetarian sandwich options were bad. The staff were trying there best but were clearly too busy to offer any nice customer service.

A planned visit today, mothers day, for lunch in the garden centre. After waiting an hr with no sign of our food order I inquired at the counter how much longer we would have to wait. The staff had misplaced our food order that I had already paid for. We received our food following a further 15 minutes after I had enquired after it. No complimentary drinks were offered to a company our food and the restaurant was a very cold environment. Several customers complaining that they were cold, several customers also complaining that their food orders had also been missed. All in all extremely disappointed with my mother's day visit.

Took an elderly friend for tea and a scone , it was awful . Scone fell apart to almost crumbs . It didn?t help that the butter was so hard . Currants were burnt because the scone was over done . This was the second time this has happened there , really should have taken them back but my friend didn?t want the fuss . Also prices in the shop seem to have risen a lot . Won?t be going back sadly .
