“Quite simply my best hotel experience ever.I set a really high bar for a luxury hotel as before the days of Internet reviews I'd been privileged enough to stay in some astonishing hotels in Europe and the UK. Plus having worked in the industry I can't be easily fooled. Stanbrook Abbey and the team exceeded at every turn.We have now stayed twice so can attest that the standards and service are consistent. The reception team are definitely the stars of the show. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left they were quite simply faultless in their mission to ensure our stay was exceptional and that nothing was too much trouble. Both rooms were stunning in very different ways and clean to an obsessive level. A quick note that the double shower in the first room is now the new winner in my 20 year search for the shower "that beats the one in that hotel in Europe that I've been droning on about for over 20 years".The food was exquisite (breakfast, cream teas and two separate sittings a month apart in George's Bar). Another worthy note is that the vegetarian options were varied and on a stand alone basis delicious. My steak was cooked to perfection, but the mouthful of my partners vegetarian dish showed that the menu is impressive across the board. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. That is how it's done. Please don't under estimate this hotel. The grounds are magestic, the terraces are a wonderful place to laze in the sunshine and the impressive architecture (both modern and traditional) might easily fool you into thinking that was the extent of the offerings here. However this is a fascinating location of historical note with everything from the cellars to the bell tower to explore.Stanbrook Abbey is a destination to visit in its own right. Our only complaint from the first visit was that we had to leave and that we were left wanting more as one short stay simply wasn't enough to enjoy everything on offer here. When we found out we'd unexpectedly need to return to the area the first thing we did was book in here again. I have absolutely no reservations recommending Stanbrook Abbey and if ever we're passing we'll be back. We might just come back anyway as the 6 hour round trip is more than worth it.I hold no affiliation to this hotel or the hotel group and gain nothing from this review. I simply believe this absolute jewel should be given the limelight it so clearly deserves.”

“Had to travel to Worcester for a work function happening th next day and this place was booked by the company to put us all up in. From arrival to check out the staff were fantastic. No delays at the desk as we all arrived and the room was very smart and clean with the heater being most welcome. The bed was comfortable and warm and the blackout curtains and windows kept out any noise and light from the nearby streets and motorway. I've not really got much of a connection with Worcester besides having to go there for business but, I'd you have a need to stay here for any reason, I'd have no problem recommending this hotel as a great place to have a wwrm7and comfortable overnight stay. Really well positioned right by the motorway too.Rooms: My room had a double bed. The bathroom and facilities were extensive and spotless. Bed was warm and comfortable. Windows and curtains blocked out all noise and light.Noteworthy details: Staff were fantastic.”

“Couldn't fault the food itself, the roast dinners were amazing. The service from our waiter was also faultless - he worked very hard to make sure everything was as good as it could be. I've knocked a star off due to what seemed to be poor behind the scenes management really. We'd pre-booked a table for 17 people at 3pm with over a week's notice, and yet when we arrived our table wasn't ready because they'd been under the impression the booking had been cancelled. Not sure why, I'd only phoned the once to book it. The restaurant was also very short staffed. As a result we weren't eating until gone 5pm and were there for around 4 hours in total. Bit tricky to keep young kids entertained for that long on empty stomachs! They'd also run out of roast beef by that point so several of us had to change our order. Again, the staff were very accommodating and knocked money off the bill for us, so all in all a solid 4 stars”

“Quite a pleasant place to have a midday meal alongside the River Severn. One downside on a very hot & sunny day was that all the outside tables did not have parasols offering shade so had to eat inside.”

“Overnight stay at the White Lion was excellent and expectations as described. Full of the kind of character you would expect in a building of its age. The service from staff was excellent, friendly and nothing too much trouble however the icing on the cake was the meal we ate inthe restaurant. Steaks cooked to perfection, first class and top marks to the chef. Can highly recommend.”

“Our room was clean and spacious with comfy bed. We had a beautiful view overlooking the cricket ground. All staff were helpful- there was a mix up that a guest travelling with us booked into our family room instead of the double room but the lady who booked us in offered to make up another bed in our room so that we didn’t need to swap. At breakfast there wasn’t much food left as it was quite late but staff asked what we wanted and cooked us more. Very pleased with the service we received”
