My actual eye test and welcome to the store were absolutely fine, however, when I showed an interest in varifocals, everything went downhill. After another bad experience at the Swan Centre Specsavers, I thought I'd try this smaller branch but unfortunately, after today, I can safely say I will never use Specsavers again! I had a free eye test and money off glasses voucher through work but because varifocals weren't included and the sales pitch I got after my eye test saw costs spiralling, I changed my mind. I was told that the type of varifocal £40 and £90, which were the two cheaper options were 'not recommended' and she wanted me to go for the 3rd or 4th option which were £140-£190. At this point I realised it would be too expensive for me, plus I couldn't use my money off glasses voucher. I asked if I could just have two separate pairs, distance and reading, like I have now and from that point on, her attitude completely changed. Because I called my close up glasses readers, she said I could not use my voucher, as they are VDU glasses only. I explained I use them for VDU work, hence being issued them from work. She said she would need to check with the optician who had just gone on his lunch. I offered to come back the next day as I couldn't wait around but she then told me my money off voucher wouldn't be valid tomorrow as it had to be used the same day as the eye test! I want prepared to wait and was so unimpressed with her attitude that I ended up walking out.

Been many times but on this occasion I was not impressed.
They have a new computerized eye test system. Look through the machine and move the joystick depending on whether it's clearer on blurred, press button if the same. Well that's all very well if the lenses of the viewing lenses are clean. I did mention this to the lady doing my test that they were dirty and smudged. She did say she would clean them but I didn't see any evidence of this and guld help the person going in next. My prescription hadn't changed but I'm not convinced. Sloppy.
