Stayed here while travelling for business.Owner and staff very friendly. Room had sloping ceilings and may not be best for someone who would have difficulty with bending to avoid hitting their head! However I loved it. Older style property with wooden beams. Was quiet on the night to sleep, no problem with noise.Had a meal on the night, they had a deal on the cottage pie. It was all very nice. Would recommend.

Stayed for overnight stay,Sadly the inn is very tired inside and outside the room was full of wood worm the bed was old with a old mattress springs could be felt .It was a small room in the eaves with a collection of old items so i actually felt like i was sleeping in a a storage cupboard as one small dorma window no view except a tired roof .The host Martin is a lovely eager to please gentleman but kindness does not improve a stay. The breakfast was nicely displayed but so greasy poor quality coffee .I did give my feedback to the owner before i posted this review.

Room had very very low sloping ceiling, so if your tall you will have to walk bent over and the toilet was the same.

Great stay at this characterful pub. Excellent landlord who made is feel very welcome and then cooked us one of the very best pub meals we have had on a long time. Simple but great quality and so tasty. The room was excellent, king-size bed, walk in shower, very comfortable. All in all an excellent place to stay especially if you enjoy individual places with character over the offer of a sterile chain establishment.

Don't be put off by the outside appearance, I know it need a bit of TLC but to be fair it is a very old building. It's rare you find the kind of devotion to his guests that you invariable get from Martin, he simply can't do enough to make your stay the best it can be. Breakfast & Dinner was brilliant, evenings in the bar with locals and guests was interesting and informative. SO if you want to stay somewhere with plenty of atmosphere then book yourself in here, you won't regret it.

Today I took my elderly mother for a lunchtime meal for mother's day at the Walter de Cantelupe Inn, in Kempsey. It was a last minute booking and they could not have been more accomodating if they had tried. They were helpful, friendly and the service was impecable. The menu was a choice of three main courses and three desserts, but all great offerings. The food was beautifully cooked and utterly delicious. The portion size was perfect. I would HIGHLY recommend lunching here and will definitely be visiting again in the future.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights from Oct 17th to 20th while visiting friends in Worcester. Martin is the perfect host ! The room was quaint with LOW beams and the bed very comfortable. The tea and coffee in the room was most welcome, alongside the soft drinks in the fridge. The pub itself has a lovely ambiance, and the regulars are very friendly. Martin even catered for our friends to have breakfast with us one morning as we told them how good they are. All in all, a superb experience and will definitely be returning when we see our friends again.

An outstanding B&B where I have just enjoyed 3 nights' accommodation, while visiting the area. This is traditional English public house in the village of Kempsey, close to Worcester, with ample off-road parking. The property is rustic and charming but the special ingredient here is the proprietor, Martin, who provides genuine warmth & hospitality from the point of arrival. Guests are welcomed, catering preferences confirmed and then escorted to their room. My room was ideal for a couple, although I was travelling alone. There was an ensuite with bath and mixer shower, fresh laundry, multi-function tv (not just free view), a complimentary mini fridge, cupboard space, two chairs & complimentary beverages. Above all, the room was clean and fresh. On my arrival, Martin checked my preference for breakfast and no less, my expectations were exceeded, next morning, as I sat down to a bowl of fresh fruit & coffee, followed by a sumptuous, cooked breakfast, prepared exactly as I had requested. I was able to enjoy an evening meal during my stay - I really wish now I had eaten in every night; such was the quality of meal presented. There was no menu, just a simple I have these items, which would you prefer and how would you like them cooked. I selected the Barnsley Lamb Chop, with minted gravy, new potatoes and seasonal vegetables, absolutely mouth-watering. This guy knows how to cook. Whilst researching my booking I searched the specific area at the 'value end' of the spectrum, looking for something a little different. The result, well I commend and recommend the Walter de Cantelupe Inn, as an absolute gem, not to be missed. Thank you, Martin.

Stayed 1 night, whilst visiting family in the area. Our host Martin was very friendly and hospitable - Owner, Chef, Housekeeping- does most of the jobs - He is a very hard-worker. Unfortunately, our Room was very small and the ensuite, even smaller. We realise that old Coaching Inns have their little quirks, but we weren't told about restricted heights in the room, which did make life a bit difficult. Bed was very uncomfortable. Had a very filling Breakfast - Fruit, Cooked & fresh Coffee, which was very nice. Like most Businesses, the Inn does suffer from a lack of Staff and i in badly need of some sort of a 'spruce' up, which Martin is trying to address - but we felt the price paid for B & B was not worth the money.
