We have been to the cafe and shop many times. Very welcoming every time so the service and food is always consistent and great. The shop is also well stocked and a very pleasant change to the major brand supermarkets. Highly recommend both and look out for the specials in the cafe.

A strange experience... We went in and there was a sign that said 'Please Wait to be Seated'. We waited a few minutes, then a rushed waitress saw us and asked 'Do you want to come in?' Seemed a bit odd, as their sign asked us to wait and we were waiting, as per their instruction. She then said 'Sit anywhere, it is all table service', so we went through to the back and it had some large, noisy tables of people eating, so we sat in the garden, wondering if any waitress would see us out there. The kitchen door was opened wide, out onto the garden and the chef could be heard signing along to David Gray's 'Babylon' at the top of his voice; not saying there is a problem with this per se, but after seeing the menu prices and comparing those to the atmosphere and service so far, it didn't add up. We sat outside waiting for a good 20 minutes and a couple more tables of people came and sat outside that arrived after us. One waitress came out and instead of serving the tables waiting to order, focussed on cleaning a dirty table, avoiding any eye contact with customers. After this another waitress finally came out and made a beeline to the nearest table with people sitting on it with a menu. The people at the table knew we had been there longer and kindly told the waitress this, she replied curtly, 'l'll go over to them next'. This just seemed the wrong thing to say and do... so we decided to leave. As we left, the waitress followed behind us asking us why we were leaving and saying they had staffing issues, making excuses etc. It made us feel uncomfortable. We just feel the service was not up to scratch considering the prices being charged and that it would have been better to let us leave with dignity instead of making a scene. Seems like the place is trying to be something it isn't?

Locally sourced, fresh cooked food, which is always delicious. Nice, relaxed and informal atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommended, especially great for a brunch.

Food is perfect, atmosphere really nice and staff can?t do enough for you. A real treat. Has a good farm shop next to it as well.
