I visited here on a few occasions whilst visiting and the service and the food and drink selection, and presentation and taste were excellent. If you are looking for a MasterChef standard dining experience, you have found the right place. You can expect to pay moderate prices, but you do truly get what you pay for.
I would suggest booking to anyone hoping to dine here.
But a definite 5 stars from top to bottom.
I look forward to visiting here again soon.

Fantastic venue to stay at. We had been stood up by a hotel in downton, and needed a place to stay. On arrival, the landlord and lady made us feel very welcomed and comfortable, and the room was lovely, with quality bed and well kept bathroom.
Breakfast was also brilliant, being one of my wife?s favourite breakfasts to date.
Our only regret is not having time to come back for Sunday lunch!

Stopped by on the off chance for a roast dinner. The staff were super friendly, and very accommodating we were seated straight away and served very quickly. Food arrived promptly, and was delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit ?.

Kitchen is closed 2pm 5:30pm
Update: That what I was told when I came there, parked, walked to the tavern, sit at the table, took a menu, choose what I want to eat, then walked to the bar to find someone to place order.
You might want to add a nice red flashing poster on the front that the kitchen is closed. So to save the nerves and avoid disappointment.

Chose The Kings Head in the evening for a special family meal, as we knew it would offer us above standard pub-grub for the occasion we wanted to celebrate. We have eaten here 3 times now and each time, the experience has been wonderful. The restaurant inside feels homely, has superior/rustic decor and the tableware is lovely, with linen napkins. The staff are all fantastic, knowledgeable, efficient and attentive.
We haven't eaten outside in the covered area, but it does look very welcoming for an al fresco experience when the weather is warm. We know we will not be disappointed when choosing to eat at The Kings Head, and we look forward to returning soon.

Stayed for one night had an evening meal and breakfast. The welcome was genuine and friendly. The rooms are clean, airy and comfortable with tea, coffee facilities, bottled water and great toiletries. The meals that we had were delicious. Would definitely stay again

10/10 for everything. Food, hosts, staff, room, cleanliness and location. The best please to stay for exploring the New Forest. Such a welcoming atmosphere and so rare to experience such quality in the UK. We stayed 2 nights, ate in the Kings Head restaurant the first night, the food was incredible, fine dining 5* standard ( the restaurant was full on a Wednesday ). The second night we booked for the Harnet, Holder & co in the Limewood Hotel which was lovely but I have to say The Kings Head food came out on top. Well done Nicky, Patrick and all of your wonderful staff. Thankyou for an memorable stay we will be back soon !

Lovely Sunday roast cooked specially for me without garlic, crunchy roast potatoes, pink lamb and enormous Yorkshire puddings. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent

Good quality food and service but menu choice remains disappointing for meat lovers- no lamb, no pork, no duck and steaks well over £30.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends and two dogs.
Greeted with a smile such lovely staff nothing is too much bother. Attentive but not overly so
The table and seating was roomy and comfortable. Nicely decorated and traditional. Great atmosphere

We had Sunday lunch at the Kings Head on the 22nd Sept. Not only was the service excellent but the food was of a very high quality and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Highly recommended.
