Came for dinner and were very disappointed by the food. Service was good, not many gluten free options (my partner is celiac) but staff were accommodating. The food however was pretty bleak. Not sure if the chef was having an off day or what, as most reviews seem to be positive. I had the chicken souvlaki which had very little chicken, was greasier than a 3am kebab and absolutely drowning in sauce. My partner had the 1/2 chicken which I can only describe as mummified. It looked and tasted like it had been reheated or sat under a heat lamp drying out for hours. Not what you want for almost 20 quid a main...

An impromptu evening visit for a family meal. Staff were friendly, service was good, as were the food & drinks. As a bonus, we just caught the tail end of happy hour at the bar.
Although the starters & mains were reasonably priced, some of the sides could have been included with the meal (salad, slaw, Etc). Personally, we thought the dessert menu did not offer value for money.
Would recommend & will revisit.

From the minute we arrived staff were friendly , helpful and offered great service. Our room was clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable . We had a great selection of teas, coffee and biscuits. A coffee machine snd hairdryer were both a nice touch.
Dinner and breakfast were delicious .
Thanks to all the staff.

We stayed 3 nights, and unfortunately, it wasn't the best/nicest. Great location, as easy to find, and it gives you easy access to a lot of areas, eg. Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, and more. The accommodation itself is certainly not up to a good standard. The room is very tired, there is damage to lots of areas, cleaning is certainly not good, and I could write in the dust ?. Also many cobwebs hanging from ceiling and pictures. Descaling kettle and bathroom taps, etc, wouldn't go amiss. Shower pressure, non-existent. You get colder under the shower quicker than it takes to warm you.
Condiment items, eg. tea, coffee, mugs, etc, not always topped or not enough, eg: loo roll. Was only given 2 half rolls at the start of stay. Unfortunately, we were not the only ones requesting loo roll.
In corridor to get to rooms, at the end, storage cupboards left open with lights on, and dog bed and dirty laundry sheets left in pilefor entirety of stay.
Breakfast food is not that good either. Came out luke warm and / or not cooked enough, eg: bacon having a flying visit under the grill. So, we decided not to dine there for supper. Although lots of people were dining for dinner, and have heard food is great from the Upham Inns chain.
Again, outside, it is not kept to a clean state. Ash tray/pots overflowing, high traffic areas not swept to get rid of rubbish and fag butt's, and glasses and food rubbish left on outside garden tables for at least 2 mdays.
Personally, I am not recommending to anybody until they up their standards to make it worth the money they charge, as definitely NOT worth it.

Unfortunately, there were parties booked at the same time as us and we had to wait over 1 hour for our partly cold food. Also, the bratwurst that was stated on the menu was certainly not a Bratwurst it was a bockwurst. The manager was not available. However, the assistant manager said all German sausages are the same, and she knew as she had lived in Germany. I advised her that I, too, lived in Germany for many years, and a Bratwurst and Bockwurst were certainly not the same !! She said well that was down to the suppliers. I pointed out to her that it was the pubs menu that stated it was Bratwurst, which was stating the wrong sausage. Apparently, that was ok, though, as they were coming off the menu in 2 weeks. Our mother was so looking forward to her time out as it was her birthday treat.
The grand age of 92. Unfortunately, she was very disappointed, to say the least, and was most upset and wanted to make her opinions known. I must add that our server was
very attentive and apologetic, and our bad feelings were not in any way aimed at him.
It's just sad for our mother who was looking forward to having her birthday treat there to be so disappointed.
Food and drinks: As already stated above, partly cold food and wrong description of Bratwurst on menu.

Me and my wife have just left the George,
We stayed for three nights and had a great time.
The staff were great, food was lovely.....the room was bright and spaciouswith everything you need.
Great location and sure it comes alive in the summer.
Locals were all really friendly and the quiz night was fun.
Highlight was meeting Mike (the manager)
His sense of humor and sarcasm was a breath of fresh air.
We will be returning when we come to the area later in the year.
5*
Food and drinks: Sunday roast was one of the best I have had.
Plenty of choice for breakfast.
Tapas was great too.

We spent a night at The George and it was really very nice.
The inn is on a busy road and although you can hear the traffic from the room, it's not loud. Our room was very nice , we were luckily upgraded to one with a four poster bed which was very comfortable. The room had a good sized TV, Nespresso machine and DAB radio, also a fridge and a charging pad for a phone.
There was a problem with the heating when we checked in, but the manager was able to resolve that quickly.
We had lunch in the restaurant and the Sunday roast was very good. There is a good selection of beers, including the local Stonehenge brewery.
Breakfast was also very good and freshly cooked.
The inn is dog friendly and even has a menu for dog treats, a nice touch.
Our room could have used some paint touching up, particularly the skirting, but other than that it was a lovely stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Arrived on 18th January 2025 as I heard good things about this pub. We went to a huge pub, and a member of staff did greet us and advised they would be with you shortly. They weren't over busy, but we were advised that they hadn't got any tables but could see there was! We were offered a pub table with stools, but my elderly mother wouldn't have been able to get up on them. Won't return.
