In a nutshell, staff are friendly enough and willing to help just enough but either poor management or overall lackluster attitude created frustrating moments in my experience.I would recommend using this place for SIMPLE things if they are the cheapest place to do that thing at and not expect much.Long story: Visited on three occasions across three weeks for a brake check, MOT and MOT re-test after buying a subscription to the Halfords Motoring Club for £50 for a year, which included a few perks like a free MOT, free brake check, discounts on parts and so on.Rock up to the first appointment 5 mins early to be told they've taken on emergency work and that it'd be a two hour wait for my free brake check. I live 30 minutes away, so not ideal and asked for the brake check to be added to the upcoming MOT.Next week, MOT went fine but brake check not done. I arrived 15 minutes early, but was told after the car was MOT'd (around closing time of 6pm) that I should have arrived earlier but this was not communicated to me prior. My car failed its MOT, asked the guys to get a quote for remedial works. Was told I'd get a call next day. Two days later I call them to be told that both of their suppliers don't have any parts even showing on their system, they need to contact the dealer. I spoke to their supplier and got a quote printed in 3 minutes. In that time I luckily found a much more switched on mechanic to do the remedial works.I went in a final time for the MOT re-test and that damn brake check. Small communication issue at the end but bottom line is that car and brake check done ?

We had a DPF clean, and to be fair it got us home all fine, but although that was a basic service, I thought the customer communication was poor, didn't know what had been done, nor if it was running fine, just didn't seem very interested in his role, probably needs to seek new employmebt in something he enjoys as Halfrds generally are really good where we live.The actual place where it was actually tatty and needs updating feels like the person on desk.... tired and not interested ?Service: General repairs & maintenance

Dropped my car off four times to be told that they hadn?t got round to looking at it/ couldn?t be looked at that day each time. My car had to go in for some work and was there for a week. I was told that it would be locked away inside, however after the first night it was still in the customer car park. Rang again to ask for it to be put away and was assured it would be. After a week, it was still sat in the very same place outside. Over all customer service has been very poor- rude on the phone and giving out false information. Have been coming to Halfords for many years, however now won?t be back again.Services: General repairs & maintenance

Absolutely appalling service! Visited this branch for a timing belt service and on the first visit they stripped car then advised they didn?t have the tool!Second visit they done the work poorly and extremely over tensioned the belt causing issues, third visit they advised it was something else, fourth visit they advised work had been done again and was all working fine?? 10 miles down the road shock car started running like a sack of rusty old spanners.Trying to contact a manager is impossible!Staff at the branch are incapable of offering a decent level of customer service are extremely rude and totally incapable of providing a good service!They are not mechanics they are monkeys!I am also still awaiting a call back from someone that knows what they are talking about (probably be waiting until he?ll freezes over)Bunch of clowns!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I ordered tyres online to be fitted on a Saturday morning, I arrived, dropped off the car and went away. I was sent an email 30 minutes after my appointment start time saying they didn?t have the tyres I ordered in advance. We agreed on a 15% discount for the inconvenience if I re arrange with them. I rebooked for 2 weeks later. Arriving 15 minutes before my appointment to receive a phone call while in the car park to be told that they again don?t have the tyres and don?t get deliveries on weekends. Why was I not told before my appointment if there was never going to be a delivery? Pretty disappointing that they can?t get 2 tyres with even 3 weeks notice.Service: Tires

I was booked for MOT retest at 2pm so brought the car on time then i was told that i have to wait half an hour because they have somebody else on MOT at this time. At 3:15 pm they finally taken my car for re-test after i asked why it takes so long and why they booked me in at 2pm when they have somebody else? On the end i still was charged £14.99 for that even i was waiting hour and half. Never again

Absolutely despicable. We had an email from them saying expect to leave our car for 1-2 hours for a basic service and MOT. We booked our car in for 11am so it would be done by a reasonable time. 5.5 hours later we?d heard nothing. No update online, on hold for hours on the phone and couldn?t get through to a human. We have a one year old with chicken pox who is tired and doesn?t want to be carted around at this time to collect cars. Horrendous. Do. Not. Use.Service: Oil change

Update!Got my little car through its MOT, again. Thanks for all the hard work that you all put into helping people when they need it.They did a great job at flushing and refilling my engine coolant, which didn't work in the long run. Taken it back, they have found the problem and fixed it in no time at all! Really impressed, big thank you to all the team for helping to fix my car!

The company I work for, lease a large fleet of vans through Leaseplan, who insist on having them looked after by Halfords Autocentres.I took my van in for an MOT and it failed for a brake sensor fault. This was diagnosed 18 months ago by Halfords Bath and we are waiting for the part to come in. Interestingly, the RAC said the van was safe to drive and it passed last years MOT with this fault.The MOT was on a Wednesday and they said they wouldn?t be able to diagnose the fault and order the part until sometime next week! (This took Halfords Bath 5 minutes to do). By chance, I found out that they ordered the part on the Friday and it would be with them on Monday, but they didn?t get around to fitting it until the Friday. I phoned the following Monday to be told that it was ready for collection; nobody thought to phone me with this news!When I collected the vehicle, I noticed that somebody had knocked the rubber pad off the brake pedal, but couldn?t be bothered to replace it!I have to concur with a lot of other reviewers; they just don?t seem to care.Service: Vehicle safety inspection
