I recently stayed at The Shears Inn for a friend's birthday weekend, and it was an absolute delight. The food was simply amazing, exceeding all expectations with its flavor and presentation. The ambiance of the pub was lovely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for gathering with friends. What truly stood out were the hosts, whose passion for their establishment shone through in every interaction, making our experience truly memorable. I highly recommend The Shears Inn for anyone looking for a fantastic getaway.Nearby activities: Went for clay shooting which was great fun.

Just had Sunday lunch for a family celebration for 17 people. Thank you to Becks and her team for looking after us so well. The choice for mains and desserts was extensive and the food was superb. We will be back and highly recommend this lovely country inn.

?I?ve never had a bad meal? This was the recommendation that led me to the Shears Inn. Whilst that doesn?t seem a glowing recommendation, it is. I?ve eaten at Michelin starred restaurants and had a bad meal. They compensate you, but they have still served it. Of the six meals I have eaten at the Shears Inn, all have been good. Becky is very understanding of people with food allergies or even just tastes. My Aunt and Uncle are retired publicans so know how it should be done, the Shears Inn was therefore my first choice for the family get together. Thank you for a wonderful meal.I can?t speak to the rooms as I?ve never stayed, but you can extrapolate when people clearly take pride in their business.

I contacted The Shears for a small get together for a wake after my Grandmothers Funeral, ?e were not due until 1pm that day but the service finished early so I called the Shears to see if we could go early and have teas and coffees as we were all so cold, we made our way to the pub and we were made so welcome and the hot drinks were ready and kept coming. The spread they had provided for us was more than we could have ever expected and was all fresh and very delicious, we also had sweet which we were not expecting which were all home made.I cannot thank The Shears enough for letting us arrive early and for the food they made for us. We all had an amazing time together sharing stories of my nan who died at 103.Thank you the Shears for completing our sad day.

What a great find, excellent English pub atmosphere, warm fire, warm welcome on a cold day. Although they were busy and we had not booked, we were made to feel comfortable and a space was prepared for us. A comprehensive menu with great specials on the board. The food was excellent I had the venison shank, any my wife had the crab ravioli. We shared a started of deep fried camenbert which they plated as two servings, a nice touch. A personal favourite. We shared the trio of creme brulee, outstanding. If you are in the area, do pop in, you won't be disappointed.

Visited for an impromptu Sunday lunch and it was absolutely brilliant. Not only did they accommodate us very last minute (and kept the kitchen open an extra 15 minutes on New Years Eve just for us) but the Sunday roast was genuinely the best I can recall having.Really great experience and will definitely be coming back. Thanks Becks and Nigel!

What a lovely pub! The amount of effort they put into the food was seriously impressive. No one spoke a word while we tucked into mains!

Proper pint of Brakspear's in Wiltshire- that's hard to beat. Why did Brakspear go in for this Gravity rebrand nonsense. It's a great shame.Either way the beer is the same and even though this pub sits in Wadworth territory and nearly in Hampshire we forgive them. Also Courage Directors on other pump is an extremely strong choice that warrants repect

There are 3 pubs in the UK that I would make an extra detour for, and this is one of them. Their food never dissapoints. Homemade and lovingly created pub dishes that make your mouth water, not to mention the desserts.Lovely pub run by two lovely people.Food & drinks: Amazing homemade pub food
