The Canal Visitor Centre has a bookshop with a stock of modestly priced books. Most are second-hand, and they cover a wide range of topics. There is also a number of old vinyl records and old maps. All have been donated to the trust for them to help raise funds for the restoration of the canal.
At the visitor centre, they stock information leaflets to use for walking along different lengths of the canal and can give you information about the Trust and its activities.
Opening hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday (excluding Wednesday)
The Visitor Centre is close to Swindon?s central library, at the top end of Regent Street.
There is a large public car park nearby.

We went on a pirate trip on the dragonfly and then did the pirate hunt afterwards.
The dragonfly trip was amazing - she looked fab with pirate flags flying. The crew were dressed up and there was a real parrot there too. The crew brought extra ?pirate items? and allowed the children to look through the captains box filled with gold rings, compass etc. On the trip we got to go up and see how the boat is piloted - learning about hot the tiller works and getting to sound the horn as we went into the long tunnel.
The trail was good, the kids enjoyed running from clue to clue, and looking at all the treasure in the chest at the end (& taking a piece of gold). We even saw two beautiful swans with this cygnets.
Definitely recommend!
