Do not use this company for a mortgage. They offered us a mortgage, then due to a property change made us reapply then took two months to confirm so we lost a house. Awful company. Really messed us around

As a business customer - don't bother.Santander charge monthly fees for our Santander Business Account - pretty common. Our business account has always been in credit since we opened it 10 years ago. Less common perhaps.We don't normally accept cheque payments. But on the odd occasion we receive a cheque, we have to go in to the branch - as the app still doesn't allow you to pay in cheques remotely like other banks (e.g. Lloyds) do.And so when the automatic cheque processing machines in the branch wouldn't process a cheque, we went up to the counter, only to be told "you're not allowed to use the staffed counters to pay in a cheque - you haven't got the right type of account".What...???It never used to be a problem - on the odd occasion we've received a cheque.And I trust it's not going to be a problem next time either, Santander?I shouldn't have to argue with two members of staff before I'm told "we'll do it on this occasion".Your online banking website is also rubbish. As is your mobile app.So what, exactly, is our monthly banking fee paying for Santander?My advice: AVOID Santander. Take your business elsewhere.

I wish I could put 0 stars. I went in the branch today and tried to set up a student account so I am eligible for the overdraft. My friends have one with a Santander account and their own personal account with another bank - I was thinking I could do the same. The man greeting people with the earring is appalling, his attitude was disgusting. He said there?s nothing he can do to help me set this account up and I need to do it online, so I explained that I can?t do it online because it wouldn?t let me and I would?ve liked some assistance. He then asked which bank I was with, so I said Halifax. He then bluntly and rudely asked me why I don?t just go there and open one, so I replied that I wanted the rail card included and Halifax don?t do that. He said I would have to change all of my banks over to Santander, and after his rudeness and unhelpfulness I didn?t want to go with Santander incase I needed help in future and no one would help me. So I thought no I am not going to open an account with Santander because he is so rude and had me feeling unsupported. I went to Halifax after, sorted. No problem at all, they had no problem at all helping me before they even knew I was an existing customer there. Now I have my overdraft. I?m so glad I didn?t go with Santander as he is so rude and needs to learn some manners. Customer service jobs aren?t for everyone clearly.

I went to the branch to pay off my mortgage. I was told I could use the phone there and they would get me the number to call.A very rude jumped up little boy gave me the number then said ? it?s not a magical number I could phone it from home ? This boy needs to be retrained and should not be let to speak to customers until he has learnt some manners.I paid a very large sum after 3 weeks I still have not received any confirmation from the mortgage team.I have been into the Cirencester branch who have confirmed the money has been received.But I still have not received anything officialThankfully with my mortgage paid I will not have anything to do with this bank again.

1 star because I can't give a minus rating. Terrible customer service. Ive had a mortgage and a current account with santander for 15 years. Set it up in Bournemouth they've always been good to deal with. The Swindon Santander branch is awful. The staff are purposely obstructive. They go out of their way not help you. Although we had our passports i was turned away today when I wanted to add my wife on to my account. If any regional Santander manager reads these reviews you should know that your Swindon staff are losing you business with their bad attitudes. Don't bother going here if you want help with your banking you're wasting your time.
