Beautiful old pub but very disinterested and rude barman. A real damper on the experience so we had a quick pint and are elsewhere.

The beer selection from Hop Back brewery is great and the service very efficient and cheerful. Sadly my venison sausages were a bit gristly and somewhat under seasoned and underwhelming. The venison burger on the other hand was a wow.

Well to put it shortly food was bad and waiting for it was long. We had trio of venison and ribeye steak which were both not worth it at a price of 32£. Beer was nothing to be amazed with.

This is a 700 year old pub with cool decor and neat drink selection. Upstairs is a restaurant as well. I highly recommend stopping here for a drink and take in the vibe. If only the walls could talk!

I was tempted to give it 4 star for the food because the fish had a weird taste I disliked. However, because of how delicious the other dishes were (particularly the scotch egg) I had to give it a higher grade. The venison meat was tastefully cooked, deserving of the name of the pub.

One of the finest pubs in England. Medieval. Complete with severed hand, rare marble floor, rare pewter bar counter, rare 19th century spirit taps, unusually positioned cask pumps, and a delightful and historic snug. By golly, I would award it one hundred stars for atmosphere if I could. It also has a perfectly decent selection of cask ales. The wife liked sitting in what was formerly the ladies' snug.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub ? great service and very friendly staff. The venison was delicious, though we would have preferred it a bit less done. Still, everything was excellent. We loved the combination of flavors, and the dessert was fantastic too.

Tonight, we had a pint of really good real ales in this great, well organised micro styled old-fashioned real ale pub with deliciously small cosy rooms
The clientelle were very nice and friendly. The owners know what they are doing
It's a really nice background music on tonight
