Popped in for a quick sandwich. What a disappointment!!!!! Sliced bread, sent back because bread was dry. Literally just a sandwich, no salad nothing. Last time I came it was fabulous. Grotty frozen chips have replaced their amazing triple cooked chunky crispy chips. Won't be coming back

Disappointing stay at The Angel. We have stayed here on multiple occasions over the years and there has been a steady decline in service and facilities. We had booked to stay twice on this trip due to the convenient location and originally being from Wootton however, we will not be returning again. On the first stay, the staff served bar customers before acknowledging me after a 10 minute wait, the room only had one bath towel for two people, the reception/bar staff did not know if breakfast was being cooked as the owner would need to come in to cook for us. The tone was it would be inconvenient. We did locate a cafe across the road called The Butchers Mate which provided excellent service and food, welcoming environment which we visited every morning. Being hopeful the poor service was a one off we stayed again however, customer service was worse than before. I would describe it as rude. I patiently waited at the check in desk, the female staff member looked at me, carried on serving bar customers then finally asked what I wanted. She checked me in and then the curious case of the missing towels and cleaner began. Day 1, 2 bath towels, day 2, 1 bath towel, Day 3, no bath towels. In addition, Day 2 we returned back to the hotel at 3pm to find our room door ajar, there was a tea towel and dirty glasses and cups in the room. We spoke to the manager who apologised and said the cleaners must still be doing the room. No one returned to clean the room properly. ? Day 3 dirty glasses and cups remained in the room. We would not recommend a stay at The Angel.

Location for us was spot on for what we were doing in Royal Wootton Bassett. On street car parking (free after 6pm until 8am) or if you go through the back gate (gets locked at 9pm) from the beer garden, the Sainsbury's Car Park is there (chargeable). Our room was nice, plenty of power sockets, especially next to the bed. The shower had good pressure and temperature was fine and the radiator worked. 4g/5g in our room (14) is a bit of a hit and miss, but it's like that all over Wootton Bassett. I didn't try the hotel WiFi. Nice outdoor space to eat and drink. Our room window would not lock, no matter what I tried and with the eating and drinking area right outside the room door/window, may be a concern for some people. It's a sort of court yard layout. If we stay again, I'd ask for one of the rooms overlooking the courtyard with a balcony. Would I stay again ? Yes.

You can tell when a place is run well by how they deal with problems. On arrival our room was cold. We were asked to wait for heating to kick in. When it didn?t we were immediately moved to one that was working. Perfect.
Great pub, restaurant and rooms are well appointed

Location good for the town, but pretty noisy outside. The room was a single bed unit so not big, but that's ok. The bed was not as comfortable as I would have liked.

Despite being adjacent to the courtyard, very quiet as very few customers. Lovely comfy bed and excellent shower. TV facility not available as remote missing and unable to provide a replacement . If staying in room 12, check for a remote on arrival ??

So today I was subjected to a very rude Bar manager.
I walk through to the beer garden, find a table and sit, there is 8 adults and 2 babies, I get told 10 minutes to order food, so up I jump, I?m at the bar, lovely bar staff servicing, the bar manager talks over us as I?m trying to order our food, so we stop and he asks ?where you sit??, ?outside on the big grey table?, ?you need to move, I?m moving tables?, ?ok?, I carry on ordering and paying for 2 meals, ordered 5 minutes after the rest of our group.
We move, nobody wanted to but we moved all the same, the first meals came out, and we waited, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes one of our group checked with the bar, ?it?s on its way?? 30 minutes another of our group checked and this time found the bar manager. Now all this time he was moving heavy table and chairs, no words of health and safety said to his young female staff.
So 40 minutes I stood up, I had bought the food, I spoke to the manager, he was so rude, I asked if he could check the kitchen, ?no, you want a refund!?, ?no I would like the food I ordered and you have promised on 2 occasions that it?s coming?, ?do you want the food?, ?yes?, ?you wait?, and he goes to walk away, ?wait do you understand why I?m talking to you?, I?m talking to you because once I buy the food from you we have entered into a contract, I would like you to fulfill that contract, I?d like to eat a meal with my friends?, again he said ?minutes or leave with a refund?, ?no you are going to give me the food i paid for?, ?I will give you the food but don?t even come back!?, ?not a problem?, we waited a 5 minutes and the food arrived.
The food was 2 fish finger sandwiches, so from order ordering it took 50 minutes, our friends 20 minutes, my belief is they forgot our food order, a sorry and the truth goes a long way, and a manager who understands the butt stops with him.
I will not be returning.

Angel Hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed here as we had a funeral to attend, the rooms were good, a little on the small side, but it was just for sleeping though, bed was comfortable and the location was right in the centre of town with the high street outside. There is no parking at this hotel though, but plenty round the back at Sainsbury's ( paid parking ) or 2 hours free on the high street between 8am and 6pm. The staff really go out of their way for you, very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing too, nice selection and freshly prepared in the morning for your enjoyment. The pub was inviting and drinks were very reasonably priced. We had a great stay and amazing service from all the staff at The Angel, massive thank you from us all.
Safety: Very safe around the area and it's great walking around the area and the alley ways around the wonderful little shops.
Walkability: Easy to walk around and explore the town.
