We were on vacation in Upavon and spontaneously stopped by The Ship for a drink. We met the new owners of the pub by chance. They are two of the kindest people we have ever met. The pub is very cozy and tidy. We had a super great evening!

A genuine little village pub , which I am told uses local produce in its kitchen and not the stuff from national supply chains .
Sunday lunch menu wasn't huge , but big enough I guess .
It's not part of a pub chain churning out preprepared food fast . It's cooked from scratch , so maybe a tiny bit slower than a chain pub.
Yorkshire puddings are fantastic and the meal came with just enough veg . Thought the beef was tough , but it wasn't, the knife was just naff.
If you are looking for a loud pub , this isn't it , at a guess most there are pretty much regulars who just go to socialise and have a drink.
Only real criticism is the gents , soap machines broken and the bottle of soap was empty , so no way of washing hands thoroughly (seems to be a common theme in pubs these days ).
All in all pretty good for a lunch , not sure if I'd go there for an evening out though .

We stopped here for a Sunday roast and had a fantastic experience! The man behind the bar was very friendly and accomodating, he managed to squeeze our family in even though they were very busy. The pork roast would have to be the best one I have had so far! Would definitely recommend this place!

Had an awesome lunch, the portions were big and tasted great. I strongly recommend the ale battered fish sandwich. Also pay a visit to the local church, it?s very beautiful.

Absolutely fantastic experience! This pub is an absolute gem. The Sunday Roasts were beyond imagination ? perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find an equally delicious vegetarian roast option. They even offer a smaller roast, which is ideal for those travelling and looking for a lighter meal. The service was impeccable, the beer selection was outstanding, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable pub experience! Five stars, without a doubt!

We were travelling home from the New Forest on a Saturday evening and decided on a pitstop. We pulled into Upavon and there are two pubs opposite each other and we picked the Ship on external appearances. A very welcoming atmosphere in a spotless, beautifully presented bar in a truly gorgeous, serene part of the world. We didn't stop for food but that will be remedied the next time we come through. A proper village pub in every sense.?

I looked at the opening houses on Google map and decided to meet a friend for coffee at 11am on a Wednesday couple of weeks ago before our walk as it was half way between our homes. When I arrived, the pub was closed and spoke to the landlord who was taking a delivery. I was told he didn't open until 12 noon. I pointed out his opening hours were wrong on Google map and suggested to him they needed updating. He told me it was Google's fault (which it isn't), as it is the responsibility of the business to update their own page.Since then, I made an edit suggestion to Google map and they've updated the opening hours within 24 hours of my request for the Wednesday only. Why can't the Ship do the same for the other days saving potential clients turning up when the pub is closed???
