There we were, having driven from Chatsworth on our way to Beaulieu, ready to stop for lunch to meet some old friends coming from Salisbury - and of course you're doing well till you get an unannounced monumental traffic jam with only about 10 miles to go Told our friends and the resto - no problem they said, don't stress...anyway we had a great lunch; the service was excellent and its so relaxing there...we have been to Winchester often and to Padstow, but this was the first occasion here. And yes lots of fish but there is a good choice for everyone Its a long way to go for a lunch but I fully recommend it - and - it is reasonably priced...Ramsay always says his lunches in his places are the best value...and so it was here...and a reasonably priced for the quality...3 courses each, total £75 for the 2 of us Nice

Pleasure of going on Sunday for lunch. Lovely warm reception. Impeccable quality food, friendly staff. However as a Michelin star restaurants tiny details missed felt a little underwhelming. Side order forgotten, Toffee pudding deserts so tough textured it had to be returned, dining plates served instead of desert plates, desserts took a long time to arrive, then waiting for sugar for coffees afterwards took a while for no reason too. The place wasn?t busy at all? so unsure why the fine detail in a fine dining restaurant was forgone.Silly unnecessary errors that can happen all the time in any restaurant so nothing taken personally. Our server was lovely. But as mentioned, this isn?t just any restaurant, so small things slightly tarnishing that experience.Otherwise lovely x

Fabulous fish curry, perfectly seasoned rib eye. Raspberry sorbet best ever.But your sourdough toast and olives dish needs to be thought through. Olives beautiful. Sourdough is wonderful. Unless you toast it to burnt and tooth breaking extreme. Not inedible, but I did struggle to eat it, and the cuts to my mouth suggest you mucked that one up.

Rick Steins Marlborough - I was expecting a lovely meal with excellent service, for our anniversary, all in the name of Mr Stein. Well, tart was eggy with no substance and very little flavour, the risotto was dry, too much of a bite and dry. Waiting between meals was not good and we were half way through our second course when they remembered our fries. We also had to remind them that we had ordered pud! The glasses were either water marked or finger smudged, the crumbs on the tables were swiftly brushed on to the floor and to top it off they charged us just under £10 for service. We also pre booked and paid for two glasses of bubbly, which they charged to us a second time for, only to be told that they would send the money to us! Partly my fault as I just swiftly passed a voucher to them, which was a gift, not checking the receipt, but when they apologise for the poor service then stick a charge for service on your bill, it?s unbelievable. I await an apology, my £19.20 reimbursement and the return of the service charge at £9.88. Sorry but will not be returning. Very disappointed.Vegetarian options: Not good, very little as if second thought. When I asked about a vegetarian or vegan menu options, they asked if I had an allergy, which I said no, so they swiftly walked away. None of the few vegetarian options was marked, clearly indicating vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc. In this era there are a lot of people moving to alternative diets because of environmental impact or medical requirements. I understand fish is the main influence, but not all couples, groups, diets are the same!

We had the most special lunch thanks to the team at this wonderful restaurant.They are so friendly, kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We have a five month old and were panicking about her disturbing other restaurant guests but they did everything they could to ensure we felt welcomed and could enjoy my special birthday lunch. I?m really sorry not to have asked their names but the lady who served us and the manager were just excellent.Food was delicious! Padstow is a special place for us after celebrating our honeymoon there (covid!) and we visited lots of Rick stein establishments, so didn?t know if this restaurant would be as special but thankfully it was just as perfect!Thank you so much to the team for making my birthday so lovely! ??

Eaten here a few times in the past restaurant out the back had a magnificent view but comes as at premium price for food and drink. This time we popped in for lunch. We only wanted a sandwich but no not possible. We asked for a hot chocolate and biscuits. We got a micro biscuit and the weakest watered down chocolate drink, and how much??? Rick i assume you and your team are reading this, really you can do much better, i cannot believe you would pedal such low standards. I guarantee I can knock something that puts this to shame with nothing but a 300 quid coffee machine and a tin of Cadbury drinking choc. Sort it out.

Unfortunately this is not a great experience if you are a Coeliac. There were only 2 main courses to choose from. I chose fish and chips but the tartar sauce contained gluten. The dessert however was delicious and great staff. However I did not ring ahead to discuss my dietary requirements and I would do this in future and hopefully have a better experience.

Lovely family meal. Nice options for food and wines available. Food was great and service from our waitress (didn't catch her name but said she was from Slovakia) was attentive, friendly, and warm. We really enjoyed, thank you.
