We visited on a mid-week evening and there was a lovely friendly atmosphere. Both the starters and the mains were very good, particularly the steaks which were cooked to perfection.

on an incredibly busy Saturday night, the very efficient staff found us a quiet table and gave us perfect service. Great real ale from Ramsbury Brewery. A scotch egg starter and rack of ribs tested the limits of my appetite but both were so tasty I couldn't leave a speck. Partner had filo wrapped halloumi with similar appreciative comments

Very much a gastro pub at the end of the High Street with some accommodation above. Quiet when we popped in just for an early afternoon drink but we were asked if we wished to dine three times and felt watched.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, particularly in the Savernake Room. Can't talk of other rooms - but there are only a few, My wife and I were booked in for three nights but checked out after one night. Let me explain. Firstly this room is very pokey, but we could get on with that. It is upstairs at the end of a small corridor. However, it turned out that the walls are paper thin. Having had dinner and retired to bed on the Monday night, we heard loud music starting about 10pm. Yes, starting about 10pm. We both thought that there was some music being performed downstairs. It was still going past 11pm, and as we could not get to sleep I rang the hotel from my room via my mobile as there are no phones in the room. When it was answered I complained about the loud music. The response was "we don't do music". I then explained that I was a guest in the hotel and there was loud music somewhere in the hotel or bar, and as it had continued for so long I was seriously considering checking out in the morning, as we could not get to sleep. A short time later I heard someone knocking on the door of the adjacent room and asking the occupants to turn down the music as there had been a complaint from another guest. I find it hard to believe that it could not be heard downstairs in the bar area and that a staff member should have done something about it before I complained. However, the music volume was reduced but not stopped until gone midnight, leading me to bang hard on the wall and shout that we were trying to get some sleep. Eventually, the music stopped. In the morning, we went down for breakfast and asked to speak with a manager. I was told that no manager was available until after 11am. Having seen the room allocation list and that the same occupants in the neighbouring room were staying over, I told the lady serving breakfast that we were checking out early and why. She apologised, made sure that she had my name and telephone number, and said she would get a manager to call me. To date - now 4 days later - no contact or attempt at contact has been received from any management representative. I am not seeking compensation, although it would have been nice if some form of apology had been received. Perhaps with a free coffee or something, or just contact, But nothing. I cannot therefore recommend this hotel to anyone. The food might be good but customer service is non-existent.

Terrible don?t go! Pub was cold, coffee horrible, dirty food covered floor and resident scavenger Labrador. The dog was frenzied in its attempt to get into my friend?s bag that was on the floor. He ran away with some packaged food she had just bought. The gratuity was taken off the bill as compensation! Really? !!! We will not be returning.

Ordered the mushroom starter that was advertised as vegetarian. There was a piece of steak in it. Chef sent the waitress to apologise and said it was because they used the same frier. Not sure they understand the concept of vegetarian food? The rest of the food was pretty average and not terrible. I?m not sure it was particularly good value for money.

We stayed here for a night to break up our journey to Buckinghamshire. The Library was a very well furnished room with comfortable bed, mini bar and a view over the charming High Street. Bathrobes, fluffy towels and good toiletries added to the pleasure of staying here. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The log burner made for a welcoming bar where we enjoyed drinks before a superb meal. The monkfish Kiev and tempura prawns were delicious. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, cooked to perfection, for breakfast finished off the perfect stay.

Immaculate service, cheerful staff and very well priced food. The Marlborough is by far the best restaurant I have been to in Marlborough. Lovely open fires, delightful menu with so many of my favourite pub classics and specials it was so hard to pick one. Jason served us, what a charming gentleman and so passionate about his food, he was glowing with pride as he told us how his team got their very impressive AA Rosette ( you can?t miss the two plates as you walk into pub) I had the monk fish Kiev I am struggling to find words to give this dish justice, perfectly cooked fish, crispy mussels and finished off with the best source i have ever tasted in my life. My fillet had a perfect salty and well cooked crust , pink in the middle, bravo chef. The fillet was 26£ which makes it not only the cheapest fillet in town but best by a country mile. Pinos pushing 30£ with an odd green bean and soggy bacon mess, Dans at well over £30 with dauphinois potato?s was an over priced 80?s mess and finely Stein?s the most experience of all was the worst Marlborugh has to offer. My husband had his favourite sausages and mash which came with 3 giant plump sausages on what looked like the creamiest mash and to top it off a giant onion ring, classic pub food with an award winning touch. We did not have pudding as the Jason and Timmy got us stuck into the worlds best espresso martins but I would of had the melt in your mouth chocolate fondant, the lady on the next table to me was having it and we nearly had a when harry met sally moment. Jason you are a gorgeous gentleman who really knows how to entertain what a lovely pub you have no wonder it was so busy. We have booked to come back after Christmas can?t wait.

Stopped here with a client for a business and will never do that again, service not very friendly, food average prices high. Would not recommend popping in even for a drink. Paid with a card and got a receipt asked for a breakdown of the bill did not check the added Optional Service £3.70. This should have been pointed out.

Our lunch today started well with very good and attentive service. Then the food arrived. The sausage and mash was good but as for the filet steak - it was stone cold in the middle and not even blue but totally raw. We returned it. The same steak then reappeared and was still raw! We sent it back and asked for our bill. Then to make things worse we could easily hear the waiting and kitchen staff being incredibly rude about us. Having paid for what we could eat and drink we could then hear more rude chat about us before we left. I think the staff need to at least learn to be discreet if not to learn some manners and the chef needs to learn to cook a fillet steak.

Gorgeous place for Sunday lunch. Absolutely fantastic roast beef, and even though a burger was not on the menu, they made one for my daughter! Very good service, lovely staff, great atmosphere. Thank you!

We fancied a nice evening out but to be honest it wasn't brilliant. Arrived on time expecting to sit in the restaurant with other people. However we were shown to the back of the restaurant area near the kitchen zone. Pretty empty and devoid of atmosphere. Food was average, ok but not enough to attract us back. Couldn't get out quick enough
