We visited the Sign of the Angel for a cream tea and while the cream tea was good, £11.50 for two scones and a pot of tea, the angel board, ice cream and service were terrible. The whole experience ruined our time in Lacock. The angel board cost £21 and was tiny, the bread provided (3 small, thin slices) was not enough for the butter, oil and dip. When we asked for more bread we were told the angel board is a sample of the bread the restaurant baked. That?s all very well and good but for £21 I think they could have happily given two more slices without losing a huge profit. The three scoops of ice cream were tiny and partially melted for £8. For that price they could have popped a little chocolate flake or wafer on to make it look like something that was worth £8. The garden had nothing to control wasps ie wasp traps or repellents and then we were told off for trying to rid them ourselves. Service was slow, no one checked if we were happy with our meal. Ironically, in the most traditional village in the uk, we left cash for the bill only to be chased down as they only take card! All in all not a great experience and we won?t return.

We stayed here in early June and had an absolutely fabulous time! The food was delicious and the room was charming. What an amazing place to stay.
Thank you for looking after us!

Food was fine but the waiting stuff were very unnecessarily rude to us and the couple next to us, spoke to them extremely rudely

A true gem tucked into the picturesque village of Lacock, Kiss of an Angel is an unforgettable experience housed in a delightfully crooked 15th-century English inn. The centuries-old architecture?with its slanted floors and time-warped ceilings?only deepens the charm, immersing you in a sense of history that feels both authentic and romantic.
But the real star here is the restaurant. Their lamb preparation is nothing short of world-class?easily one of the finest renditions I?ve ever had, balancing rustic depth with elegant execution. Local beers and ciders flow generously, perfectly complementing the menu. Grab another round for the garden or upper floor den.
Service is warm, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. As a bonus, my wife is vegetarian, and the plant-based dishes were genuinely excellent?creative, satisfying, and treated with the same care and intention as the meat-forward offerings. Not a single afterthought on the plate.
Come for the charm, stay for the food, and leave already planning your next visit.

I booked a surpirse weekend away here for my partner and do not recommend it. The room was advised as having an over bath shower. On checking into the room we found that is was false. Instead, there is a bath and a separate hand held shower attachment. Even the on duty manager was confused where the shower had gone. We paid for a room with a shower, as advertised on their site. The bedroom door also has huge gaps (approximately one in places) around the main bedroom door. There is a curtain as a substitute. Whilst I appreciate this is an old inn, in my opinion this is far from ideal from a privacy perspective. Very disappointing.

We stopped here and had afternoon tea at this cute place. Everything was very tasteful. There are lots of different seating options. The hotel/ restaurant is very ancient, with lots of history.

Though the wait staff was polite and friendly, they were clearly not at the right level for a busy day. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone even asked us if we wanted a drink, and then 25+ minutes to get our food. And, the food, while tasty, was not great value. You didn?t get a lot for the money.

Lovely location and surroundings. Pretty garden to relax in and enjoy a drink before dinner. Nice menu and friendly, attentive staff. Dog friendly too. The pie, pearl barley and fish dishes were all delicious but the sweet potato starter was a little disappointing in both look and taste. The truffle cheese croquettes were extremely small and only three in total. Disappointed as not a fair size starter in comparison to the squid? Enjoyable evening.

We went to the Sign of the Angel for afternoon tea and it was definitely one of my favorite experiences of our entire holiday. The garden had such a beautiful atmosphere and the food was without a doubt some of the most delicious cuisine I have ever tasted. Everything was excellent, the servers were kind and helpful and we spent nearly 2 hours enjoying the food and tea.
