Went there for a funeral wake, seemed somewhat rundown and in need of some TLC. Food we had at the wake was

Great town centre venue. We went for the beef blade, from the Festive Menu, which didn't disappoint!

Came here for a Christmas meal with family. It was not the first time here for me but a first for food. Service was good, with helpful friendly staff. It initially However, it didn't start too great. The drink had been poured from pipes that hadn't been properly flushed. The staff did replace it but no apology. The food, however, was very good and reasonably priced. I had a medium steak that I felt was cooked very well, and everyone enjoyed what they chose. The ambience of the place was good, albeit noisy when full. All in all, it's worthy of 4 stars.

Popped in for lunch. Nice food. Service was great. They just need to change the lunch menu. Think it's been the same for the past few years.

Fantastic place for friends to meet up. My room was warm and cosy. Front of house staff very accommodating, restaurant staff excellent.Rooms: Superior room.Cosy, warm and clean.ModernVery comfertableSafety: I felt very safe staying at the hotel.Walkability: Car park very close by.Needed as no parking at hotel.Food & drinks: Good food, not overly expensive, goid prices on wine/per bottle.Noteworthy details: Be aware there is a Town Clock Tower . Beautiful, however it chimes every 15 minutes. That's threw the night also. Not great, but would still go back to stay. Also when booking, check where your room is, as there are outside rooms. Should have more detail for customer when booking.

I?m sorry to say that every time we come here for food it gets a little bit worse, culminating with a really poorly cooked dinner last night. The rooms are OK but very loud (creaky and able to hear neighbours) in the courtyard and very smelly in the main house. Breakfast included a banana bread which was uneatable (rubber). The drinks both hot and cold were good.Food & drinks: The burger I was served at dinner was absolutely not freshly cooked with congealed cheese and a cold patty. The ?thick cut chips? served with the fish were basically whole potatoes fried, lacked all flavour and had an unpleasant texture.

The hotel is a Grade 2 listed 16th century historic building, originally a coaching inn and once occupied by a brewery. The reception and dining areas are refurbished and decorated with old photos and objects that illustrate the building's heritage. The staffs are efficient and our check in was fast. To reach our room we needed to climb up a ramp and some stairs (not so luggage friendly). Our room is large, clean and quiet. WiFi is decent and supports video streaming. The continental breakfast is decent with assorted breads, cereals, cold cuts, fruits, etc. The hotel is in the midst of a small town so there is a number of shops, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. The only problem is the lack of parking at the hotel and we needed to park in a public car park across the road behind a row of houses. (The car park was already full when we arrived after dark and we had to exit and enter the car park a few times before finding a slot. Most of the cars were gone the next morning as the car park is "pay and display" between 8am and 6pm.)

Nice hotel, the rooms were lovely and the staff were great, although some areas of the place are a little tired, but kinda adds to the character of the place..The bar only had some strange beers and cider that we didnt know of, no well knows brands of lager or cider that you would expect.. We were disappointed with the continental breakfast also, but there was a lovely little cafe across the road alongside the river..

Easy to find, staff are lovely it's just a shame there was no live music at all in Calne during our 2night stay ?Food & drinks: A lot of kebab shops, but the town has everything you can ask for ?

Very sorry to say this was a disappointing experience. There are two main problems at this hotel. One is upkeep of the property. I found the room to be both badly maintained and dirty. One of the beds was broken. Cobwebs hung from every corner. The bathroom I would class as hazardous with grimy appliances, rotting black mould on the floor, walls and windows, an over-bath shower with no safety handles, no non slip mat for guests to use and no safety valve on the shower flow itself. The second issue is poorly trained staff, whose interaction with guests can at best be described as avoidant. On both mornings, guests resorted to hunting down the invisible and uncommunicative staff, to provide basic items like plates and cutlery at the self-service buffet.I'm pleased to say that when found, the duty manager was courteous and sympathetic. There being no alternative rooms available, she arranged a refund in the light of our comments. However, the room remained uncleaned for the rest of our stay. The Lansdowne is the only hotel in Calne and it seems to take its customers for granted as a result. I visit this area often but I'm unlikely to return to this hotel if things don't drastically change.Safety: Health and safety measures are lacking.

Nice clean room. Parking could be better. Don't park where they tell you to as your car will get vandalised. Use the car park next to bus stop over road next to buss stop. Breakfast well I've stopped here twice now. Told it is from 7 but they don't bother till 8 witch is no good if you need to get to work for 8 very poor service on this side. Booking in could be better as they just ignore you when they are not serving anyone and only one person can book you I was told.

The staff were friendly and efficient with no problems. The Lansdowne is looking a little tired in its look these days, more so in the bedrooms. My room upon first impression was very good,Room 201 (nice big room) overlooks main street and windows, which looked a bit dirty, did not block out any noise from passing traffic/ people which for me being a light sleeper didn't help. For the price etc very good, but could be so much better.
