Food was delicious, staff friendl. Atmosphere was that of a traditional old English pub with a little pizzazz.
I will say however, I felt it was a little overpriced for a Sunday roast. £37 for a roast beef is in my opinion too steep, but it was good food.
Would I go back? Probably not at that price.
You decide people!

Came for a business lunch for 2. Friday 9th August. It was my first visit and being a chef myself I was really looking forward to lunch. Service was brilliant on arrival and we sat down to enjoy some sensational warm bread and butter. We shared the scotch egg and cured monkfish both delicious and really interesting flavours, my colleague had the salmon main and I had the lamb. It was one of the best dishes I can ever remember having. Genuinely. Great flavours, really good portion. I couldn't have enjoyed the whole experience more, had a nice chat with Rob the Chef and left with a big smile on my face. Do yourself a favour and go, you wont be disappointed

I had a bad feeling about this place. Enough excoriating reviews amongst the praise to get my sceptic buds tickling. My partner had been recommended so we booked lunch.First thing I noticed was the smell of cooking in the carpark. It was not the "ummmm" type of cooking smell at all. The place was empty, bar us and a table of 4 (next to us) so zero atmosphere. A great deal of the responsibility for what I ate lies with me. The ingredients were on the menu, and despite doubting Dover sole, beef shin ravioli, broccoli, pink fir potatoes could ever work, I thought I'd see if they could pull it off.It was far worse than I envisaged. It looked revolting when put in front of me, but tasted worse. There were about 7 small ravioli sitting on the broccoli, with the potatoes underneath. 2 sad little soul fillets sat curled up and colourless atop the lot. It was all sitting in water (from the veg) mixed with a very strong beef stock. I wager the ravioli was bought in, and if it wasn't, then the chef can't make them. The spuds had long seen "pink" - they were dark brown and shriveled up. The overwhelming flavour was too-thick pasta with pungent beef overwhelming everything. The sole never stood a chance in hell, but even that was overcooked and drab. The veg was hot, the fish tepid and the ravioli, cold.So I should have known better, but still. This is utterly terrible food and it's a long, long time since I had anything so dire. £35.00.If was just down to food (and his haddock and chips which was fine) then I'd be giving a little more slack. The service was diabolical too. Once the food was on the table, that was it. Not a soul to ask if the food was ok, or if we wanted another drink. Likewise for the next table. After staring at dirty plates for several minutes, he went off to find someone, as I wanted drink and he a dessert. All I will say is there followed a prickly encounter. We changed our minds and asked for the bill.I think it was one of the proprietors who brought it. She asked if we'd enjoyed the meal, and I was honest. She said "it's a classic pairing but obviously not to your taste". Been eating in hi-brow to lo-brow places for 40 years and never come across it. Neither has Google, btw.I think it's more a chef who's woefully out of his depth.

Absolutely spectacular roast, literally the best we?ve had. Annoyingly, even better than the one we make ourselves and ours is great :-) Service was lovely from Liz, Megan and Amelia, and chef Rob is clearly passionate about every aspect, from sourcing and avoiding short cuts to flavour and presentation. We can?t wait to go back (and are in a couple of weeks!)
