Great stopping point for a drink and a bit to eat. Not far from some beautiful viewing points on the river

I wish I had read the previous reviews before I went to this place. Took my 84 years old father on a day out. It was a windy and cold ish day for my dad to sit in the garden. Also we had taken our little dog with us so we were refused a table inside because of the dog, I understand that.
I asked the young lady if my dad could use the toilet, she went inside and a couple of minutes later, an older woman, who I assumed was the owner, came to the door. She refused to let my dad, an elderly person with a hidden disability, use the toilet. She stood on the door looking at us like we were some sort of menace and told us that the toilet was for customers only.
The lack of sympathy from this woman is unbelievable.

I had an unfortunate experience at this cafe. At 31 weeks pregnant, I needed to find a toilet during a journey and made a detour into Wetherby, and this cafe was the first place I found after parking. A young waitress informed me that the toilet was for customers only. I explained my situation and asked to speak to someone senior, hoping for some understanding.
The girl led me to a lady, who I assume was the owner. Despite being visibly pregnant, she reiterated the policy with clear disdain. I mentioned again that I was pregnant, hoping for some empathy, and she reluctantly allowed me to use the toilet only after making it clear that most people tend to buy something afterward.
Shocked but desperate, I agreed, used the toilet, and purchased a bottle of water before leaving. This interaction left me feeling bad about myself. While I respect their policy, it was a weekday morning at around 10 am and the café was practically empty, so this felt needlessly petty. It costs nothing to be kind and empathetic. A disappointing experience from one woman to another.

Called in on cycle ride today. Lovely weather to sit outside on the terrace. Spoilt for choice with wide menu but both went for lemon scone with lemon curd. Delicious and good quality coffee also. Very reasonable prices. Staff very attentive and friendly and served promptly. Will return for more treats.
