Visited recently on a few occasions both for food and just a drink.
Staff all lovely and friendly.
Food has been lovely as previously had gone down hill massively so we hadn’t been for years. We visited as a family for a carvery and the best carvery we’ve had for a long time good choice of veg and all food hot and fresh.
Then had various things off the menu between us kids meals, pie, lasagne and burgers and all been lovely freshly cooked and a lovely side salad.
We’ve been told managers have recently left but staff that are still running the place are all great.

When you pay for a carvery find out the chief has had enough and closes it not on this was on a Sunday 8th march 2026 another 8 people were waiting hardly any food I had scarg end of beef . And was told Yorkshire puddings would be 10 minutes never arrived but is it the point when you have eaten your food. Spoon full of gravy bar staff table staff I can?t fault. them I?ve eaten in this place for over 40 years never have I had a visit like this !

Improved massively since the new management!!
Everything tasted incredibly fresh and the staff were very attentive always making sure the carvery is maintained correctly.

Just been in for a carvery and it was honestly one of the worst meals I?ve had out. It definitely wasn?t worth £25 ? in fact it wouldn?t even have been worth £2.50.
The food tasted old and like it had been sitting there all day. Everything was massively over-seasoned, with what seemed like a whole tub of herbs thrown over the top of everything. The gravy was extremely thin and watery, and most of the food was soggy. The swede in particular was inedible as it seemed to have an entire tub of pepper dumped into it.
The only decent part of the meal was the Pepsi.
As soon as you walk in you?re hit with a strong smell of grease, which is very off-putting. The place also looked filthy and it?s clear that proper cleaning hasn?t been happening since the new owners took over.
To make things worse, I posted this same review on one of their Facebook posts and it was deleted, and I was then blocked from the page. If they were any kind of good establishment they would be honest and leave up all reviews, instead of deleting the negative ones.
Overall a really poor experience and definitely not somewhere I?d return to.

We have been to this place a few times since the new owners have taken over and have been for food tonight and just had to share my experience.
First of all it?s a massive improvement from before it is totally like a different pub. We had ribeye steak and the pork ribs and both dishes were outstanding. The new chef they have got clearly cares about what is being served and it was outstanding. Anyone who has visited this place before should give it another try. Am sure you won?t be disappointed.

We came for the 3 course valentine's menu and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was delicious, very generous portions and well presented. A huge improvement to when we last came! The new team are doing a fab job and couldn't do enough for us ? We would definitely return again. Thank you ?

The new menu is guna be amazing...absolutely everything is now homemade... even the beef burgers... and lasagne is gorgeous. Now its nicely presented and the home made chips are gorgeous. Can not wait for weekend to have some more nibbles . We'll done Brad Tom and team xx

had a beautiful meal abit of mother and daughter time, Brad you were the perfect host very polite and helpful, the lasagne was to die for only problem was we couldnt eat it all (sorry) as the portions were big we will be back again keep up the good work Brad ??

Just wanted to say thank you to the new management and staff, we came today not expecting much after our experience xmas day with the previous management. But we were over the moon, the carvery was gorgeous, nothing to complain about at all, all home cooked, can highly recommend.
