The fish and chips were excellent, probably the best we have had in years. The service by the staff was top notch, and also the surroundings was very pleasant. We will definitely go again.

It was a year since we last went here been visiting the restaurant and takeaway for years while living in the area Waited a couple of minutes to be seated a young lad came up to us no eye contact and said follow me took us over to a table right next to the kitchen door and said sit here his rude attitude was awful !! The food was very good however the insufficient young lad forgot peas and bread

Nice product but Nov2020- 2 Fish and 1 Chips was £10.70 Dec2023 It is now £14.45, 90p up since last week. 35% overall. Why?

Wetherby Whaler in Wetherby is very good. It's a while since we went to the one on Denby Dale Road, Wakefield. What has happened? The chips were hard and overcooked, and the fish was slimy inside the batter, and seemed to have been warmedup/kept warm. Service was excellent and so was the cup of tea. I'll try the Whaler on Leeds Road next timel

Delicious fish and chips. I?m coeliac and dairy intolerant and their NG batter (on the haddock) was so nice. They were so careful preparing it and keeping it separate. They also label some gf salt and vinegar which they keep under the counter as the salt and vinegar out on the counter could get contaminated. We?re new to the area so will be visiting again soon.

My mum who is 95 with various health issues fancied fish and chips! Long story short we went and I parked up to get a take away as mum carnt get out the car. The young lady behind the counter was so caring when I explained I didn?t want to wait too long due to mums health on her own. She very kindly took my order, said she would split bewtween 2 boxes so mum wouldn?t be made to feel any different , asked where I was parked and told me to go bs k to the car and she would find me and bring the food out to us when cooked, I really couldn?t thank her enough and she certainly went behind and above We definately return the young lady restored my faith in excellent customer service when I returned home I did ring the manger to pass on on thanks.

Wetherby Whaler, everyone locally knows they are a great fish and chips shop. Today I just couldn't believe they served me TINNED MUSHY PEAS, are you guys seriously needing to cut corners that you are now serving years who have been coming for years things we could buy in Lidl? Having been going there for years, I practically know most of the staff. And when I told a staff member, he also said that the peas came from a tin. Love the haddock, and love the chips, but it's a bit of an insult to be given peas from a tin. They are not the same, and I simply cannot understand why, apart from financial, you would serve your loyal customers with such nonsense.

I rang prior to coming to book a table as it was my disabled mother?s 80th birthday. Was told no bookings are required for only 4 people n was large parties only. I asked would we be guaranteed a table as my mother is disabled and would need to be seated on arrival. Was told oh yes just come. On arrival we couldn?t even get in the entrance for people sat there queuing for tables. I went inside and asked for a table and was told we are very busy and wait outside with everyone else! Even though it was a special occasion nothing mattered. It was like a dr?s waiting room in the foyer. This is why I asked to book! Total disregard for a disabled 80 year old wanting to celebrate her day! Will never go there again! We went to the Toby carvery who happily seated us straight away and provided her with birthday treats!

I had already had a gluten free take away the week before with no problems. However even after expressing my gluten intolerance in the restaurant I thought I could safely order from the gluten free menu. I was subsequently glutened and suffered for it and still are almost two weeks later. I?ve been gravely ill as a result of the restaurant?s actions. I am so careful & always wary but thought I could trust this place following a good experience. I contacted the restaurant who offered me two free meals!!! No chance. Why would I trust them? I?m not sure they understand the gravity of the situation and how poorly they made me. I spent 8 days in bed. I?m still suffering now and the effects could last for months.

Excellent fish and chips consumed in the restaurant. Best I've had in long time. Excellent service and the premises were very clean throughout.

On arrival, we was greeted by a lovely lady that Customer service was next to none. The food came out. It was delicious. Everything was spot on and what I really recommend.

We had heard good things about this place, but never made it inside. I am a wheelchair user. The restaurant is up a steep flight of steps. There is a lift were told. Go down the side of the building and ring a bell and someone will come and let you in. We could see the new bright shiny lift through the glass door which was locked. After sitting down the side of the building for quite a while NO ONE came. I would have been soaked if it had been raining. Why couldn't I just go in and use the lift? I feet like a second class citizen-a nobody, sitting down the side of a building hoping to get in. I wheeled myself away and left. Equality - only if it suits. They boast of a lift but you can't use it unless they allow you entry! I'm sure there will be excuses of short staff, very busy (I've heard every reason why I got bad service). Its never their fault. Just let me use the lift without being vetted. I don't want excuses. PS, the fish and chips might be great, but I will never know

I love this place, the fish and chips are the best in the area. The portions are generous, the fish is always beautiful and the staff are very good. Have been going for years and love it.
