I love Calder and Hops! The poker game on Sundays is the best pub poker game I've been to and the inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly vibes make the atmosphere feel very accepting and friendly

I came here yesterday with some friends and my toddler who has CMPA (milk allergy). I ordered at the bar so I could make them aware of his allergy and I had already checked the safe foods from the menu online.
Food was brought out with cheese on, I asked if it was dairy free cheese and they said no and they'd replace the meal. They brought the replacement meal back out with no cheese (however everyone else had finished their meals by now).
The staff member apologised, said the chef didn't read the ticket properly (which is unacceptable when it comes to allergies), then offered a free ice cream as an apology! (Ice cream, full of milk).
Otherwise, my food was actually really nice and the prices really affordable too. I really think staff should be better trained and aware of allergies. Once one mistake has been made, it's hard to trust any replacements/future meals.
Luckily the meal we chose had visible cheese, however had it been a meal where dairy product is cooked in and not visibly on top of the meal, I wouldn't have known and my little boy could have been really poorly from it.

Ordered a hunters chicken and a chicken tikka, both came out cold and the chips were too hard, and tasted like crisps. (Also most of the menu was out of stock, which is disappointing for fathers day, glad I didn't being my dad here)

Rude staff. Just lost me and my family from ordering food (family of 5) due to a rude member behind the bar questioning my order when a queried it. Won't be returning sadly, we used to use Calder and Hops when we was in town.
