We had our wedding at Hazlewood in September 2023 and it was the most amazing day. From booking, planning and finally to the day itself, the staff were always keen to help, from organising the order of the day to actually carrying it out with the utmost precision. The venue provided a wonderful and picturesque setting for our wedding. Absolutely no regrets!

The Wi-Fi did not work reliably in our room. Had to log in to use the wi-fi - which is unnecessary hassle. There were plastic flowers everywhere - nothing real - for this class of hotel expect real flowers. The "herb garden" is a joke! The young staff need further training - dumping a plate down in front of a guest and walking away is not great. Breakfast was well staffed, but not well organised. Signage is poor - had to ask where gents was, heard others doing the same. Even the sign to the reception in the courtyard does not make it clear the entrance is up the steps. Bedroom ready late due to lack of linen. No information in the bedroom about the hotel facilities. Various emails prior to arrival about an "app" ? why do I need to use an app? Thankful that a staff member highlighted the bar (not apparent) and that there was a bar menu - more our requirement than the limited choice in the restaurant. The menu has in small print at the back that a service charge would be added - that was only seen after seeing the service charge added to the bill - not clear. Food over priced for average quality. The whole impression is that this is not a hotel but a wedding venue. In the rooms is a brochure giving the wedding costs, which is not something that most wedding parties would want to see when attending someone else's wedding. A booklet about the building is for sale at £10 from reception - one of these should be in each room (not to take away). The outside lighting was on all day, a waste of energy, many of the lights are covered in foliage or pointing in wrong direction. Said most of this to receptionist when we left who said we would be contacted, but heard nothing until this automated email.

I would like to start by saying the room was exceptional. The staff were so welcoming and the food was exquisite. The grounds of the Castle are beautiful. Don?t walk, run to book a night at this breathe taking hotel.

A fantastic stay as always at Hazlewood. We treated ourselves for my birthday and enjoyed a delicious meal as always. The chef was very helpful and knowledgeable about food allergies etc and made me a gorgeous main and dessert both gluten free which was very much appreciated. Our room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean as were the rest of the castle. The grounds were delightful to wander around and kepy beautifully by the gardeners. I need to find an excuse to book the Woodland Venue which looks amazing!! Will definitely be back soon. Thanks to every member of staff who helped make our stay so perfect.

A perfect stay in a beautiful castle. Staff were very friendly and couldn?t do enough. Food was excellent good choice of meals and accommodating to our dietary needs. Rooms were clean and very spacious. Enjoyed a lovely wander around the grounds, love the woodland. Very relaxing. Overall we loved our stay and will be back.

Hazlewood Castle is undoubtedly a beautiful stunning place but the owners are letting this place fall apart by not giving it the love and care it needs. If you are charging around £175-£200+ a night I at least expect it to be clean. I truly believe that this place is a health hazard. Sticky floors, stained chairs, mucky carpets, peeling and crumbling walls, torn bedding?the list goes on. Not to mention the dust! I do understand it is a old building but it is not fun waking up with bloodshot eyes, sniffles and having coughing fits because of the dust. Never have I ever seen so much dust around the edge of the carpet in my life! The room we stayed in also smelt of a sweaty dampness. Very noisy at night. Could hear staff rolling trolleys and moving stuff around in the early hours of the morning roughly around 4am? It seems like a lot of the comments on here are about the cleanliness and even though these comments have been going on for months nothing has changed? This is to the owners. You really need to invest in more staff especially on the cleaning side of things it?s really honestly becoming a health hazard. You charge enough for rooms, weddings, afternoon tea and spa days to fix the place up. Please do it and give us a reason to come back and fall back in love with the place again.

Firstly, let me preface this by praising the staff who were all very friendly, polite and helpful and they are the only reason I?ve given this ?spa? a two star review. The Wick?s family need to massively invest in the spa if they want to compete with other spas in the areas (and they make more than enough money according to companies house to do this) Where do I begin? On arrival, no one was there. We had to go and search for some staff who were trying to have their break but kindly came to see to us. The reception to the spa is filthy. In fact, the whole spa is filthy . The changing rooms are a joke. You literally have to wait until the people in front of you get changed into their spa gear before you can go in. One in, one out. There?s one shower in the changing rooms that is a relic from the 80?s. Robes are tatty and stained. You get one hour to use the ?thermal suite? supposedly for heath and safety but is clearly because they don?t want to many people in the tiny ?thermal? area. The afternoon tea was basic but edible but we were served by a lovely lady. The treatments were great - two lovely, friendly women who knew their stuff. However, both wore jeans which just gives a bad impression. One didn?t even have a uniform on . Just no standards at all. The relaxation room is a joke. Tiny Chaise Longues in the smallest room ever. We were booked into the thermal suite after our treatments but we went to have a look and just decided to get the hell out of there. My local council run leisure centre has better facilities? and is cleaner! The grounds are stunning, the staff are fabulous and did their best but I feel sorry for them having to work in an environment like that. The fact that we left 90 mins before we had to speaks volumes. Avoid the spa at all costs until the owners plough some of their millions into it. I?d be ashamed if I was them. Or at the very least, pay for some good cleaners.

The location is fantastic and convenient to reach. The ambience had something magical, historic and still ver welcoming. I stayed only one night, but enjoyed the warm snd excellent service as well as the abundance of drink selections (I ended up with a rhubarb gin and tonic). The breakfast was also very good and the restaurant has a medieval flair. The walking path. With I used in the morning after sunrise brought up a mystical felling walking thru a dense forest.

My husband and I got married here on the 25th February 2023. We had our ceremony in the old dining room and our wedding breakfast/reception in the great hall. Kelly was exceptional with all the wedding planning keeping us updated with everything and making sure our wedding was organised to perfection we can?t thank Kelly enough for this. The day itself was just perfect Michael and his team made sure the day ran smoothly and perfectly and nothing was too much for him and his team. My husband and I had the most perfect stress free day from start to finish. The staff were just brilliant and made our wedding perfect in a perfect location. Thank you all Mr and Mrs Crosby

Our son and his partner bought us a gift voucher for a 1 night stay with breakfast, dinner and a spa experience. We booked the hotel for the 2nd weekend in August. The room we were allocated was Primrose and it was a nice room on the ground floor in the courtyard. There were a few stains in the bedding, a stain on the sofa and some of the wallpaper was coming off but overall we were initially happy with the room. I had a hot stone massage and my husband had a leg and foot massage which we both enjoyed. The sauna and steam room was ok but I would not pay extra to use those facilities as the room is small and there was nowhere to relax after the sauna/ steam. No hot tub or pool. Dinner was very good and we had very good service in the restaurant. The staff are all lovely. After dinner we went upstairs to the bar where we were the only two people in there! The receptionist served us drinks and before she left at 9pm she asked if we needed any more drinks. She told us to go to the restaurant if we needed any more drinks as there was nobody in the bar. Most of the guests were at a wedding in the woods so the staff were down there. Breakfast was ok but it is a bit cramped in the restaurant when it is full. The first problem with the room arose when we tried to have a shower - the water was scalding hot and would not turn down. We had to have a bath instead. When we told the receptionist about the problem the next morning she apologised and said she would have maintenance look at it later in the day. The room was incredibly hot and we couldn?t open the window as we were on the ground floor. The noise from people coming into their rooms and going outside for a smoke, standing outside our room talking and laughing went on all night so I didn?t get any sleep!!There was also a noise which sounded like a fan or generator going all night long. I would not stay in that room again.

For a prebooked afternoon tea, we did not quite feel expected. Details should have included table prepared with white cloth, a real flower rather than plastic, a choice of teas, and an unchipped cup - but didn't. The delicious food was well presented. For a special occasion the overall impression was less than perfect.

Went for a high tea. Very nice and would recommend. It has a small residential car park. No disabled parking, that I could see.Make sure you have a compass and map, when driving through the woodland driving experience to the nail entrance. Enjoy.
