This is a classic pub in the heart of a proper ancient Yorkshire village. The people, the drink and the ambience were exactly what we had been hoping to find on our visit to the north. For summer visits, there is an enchanting beer garden out the back and up the steps. Go there and go back in time. Do visit the church a mere stone?s throw away, and cool your feet in the lovely adjacent stream.

Came here in the quiet period between Christmas and New Year, so getting served was easy. Beer was great. I'm not sure if they serve food, so best to check on that if you're looking for anything more than a bag if crisps.

Been in a couple of times now. The beer is top notch, clearly well kept and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Locals are friendly, decor is in the classic countryside/local tradition and it's obviously a loved and looked after pub. Highly recommended.
