There aren't enough staff to keep the tables clear, serve customers and carry orders to tables so the place always looks full of uncleared tables.
The staff that are on are at the older end of the employment spectrum so they're naturally slow. That's not a criticism of them but any busy food outlet requires dynamic staff who can work efficiently at busy service times, this cafe doesn't have that. It needs more front of house staff to compensate. I had to ask for a knife 4 times as there were none in the cutlery station. 4 times the staff came out with food, sauces and other customers cutlery and forgot my knife. When the knife was brought out it wasn't clean. That's another issue, the cutlery is machine washed and never 100% clean. You have to pull out a handful and choose the least dirty, that's if you're lucky enough to find the cutlery station has any cutlery in it.
The self ordering touchscreen is almost always out of order which means you have a lengthy queue at the till most lunchtimes another hassle with the place.
In terms of the food it's ok, average cafe food, with an average price but the food is not the problem here. This cafe could and should be an absolute gold mine for Morrisons it's got a heavy footfall of pensioners during midweek days and it has no real competition in Rothwell centre as there are no other comparable cafes but the service and investment in the place is so poor people avoid it. I use Greggs up the main street and eat in my car I'll not eat at the cafe again.

You need to get rid of this self service ordering screen and employ more staff to actually take orders
1. Only one available
2. Takes too long to order especially for the elderly.
3. Touch screen was filthy
Also, didn?t see many staff at all. Tables very dirty and the unused tables had empty crockery, knives and forks on them and self service coffee machine wasn?t working either.
Overall, very poor and not like how it used to be before the update. I don?t often use this cafe but it?s definitely gone down in standards and service since I last came in here.
This is not in any way a reflection on the very few staff that work in here.

No free donuts as advertised with every hot drink, no serviettes out, no teaspoons out, steel teapot dirty, staff members stressed, unfriendly and very understaffed, breakfast mediocre at best. Used to be great value, dropped to sometimes ok.

The meal was okay, but I had a cuppa in a dirty cup, which I was not happy about. I also think they need more staff to support the ones currently there.

Here on Saturday morning, staff told us: no hot drinks available. In a cafe. No coffee, no tea. It's that bad.

No hot drinks, no chicken dinner, no steak pie dinner, no bottled water, no condiments, ended up with cottage pie dinner, pictures of what it was supposed to look like and actual dinner also cold

Rude staff, poorly stocked shelves and second rate food in cafe. It seems hard work for anyone in this store to serve you. There are only a few exceptions to this. Awful place

I really do try to keep all reviews positive, however, after visiting the Dewsbury Road café at Morrison?s and being thoroughly disappointed with the luke warm, poor quality cheap food & slow service I thought I?d give benefit of the doubt and try the Rothwell Morrisons Café. Equally bland, tasteless cheap products. Over 25 mins wait in what was essentially an empty cafe?. I do not recommend.PS I appreciate the food is absolutely lathered in condiments however, I had to do something to make this food palatable ?

Fruit and veg at this store are disgusting only last 2 days at most four out of six eggs are always cracked they say there trying to save us money but in reality it costs us twice as much buying fresher and better fruit and veg again from Aldi and the staff at Morrisons rothwell all look miserable and not friendly at all shame it used to be a great store but now gone downhill very fast since take over

how can you justify charging £3 for 300g of your own brand risotto rice,when sainbury's charge £1.80 for 500g? you only have that 1 option.

Waited till i walked in store new nothing about this order, told me just to cancel it! Staff rude and unhelpful some manager hidden out of the way cancelled the order while i was stood there!!! Walked 2 miles to get this then 2 miles back in pouring rain feeling humiliated and bloody livid. Staff were so rude and unhelpful...NEVER AGAIN WILL I PATRONISE THIS STORE
