Always enjoy coming here. The staff are friendly and welcoming, especially Kira and Pam. We meet up with family when we come up. The service and friendliness creates a great atmosphere and the food is lovely, hopefully back soon and never know might be back around your Pride event. Thank you

I enjoy this pub as my local, it's a little expensive but overall a decent place for a drink or value meal, if your just after basic pub grub.
My main gripe I used to enjoy taking my son in to watch the champions league games mid week, I'd have a couple of pints and he would have a couple of cola's. However they have really tightened up and the last few times have asked us to leave at 9, half way through the game so now I just don't bother. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done on their side with licensing but it's a real disappointment. Last time I went they asked us and a large party at 9 to leave were, they were very annoyed, but we noted that others didn't leave under the same circumstances, not sure why, but that added to the frustration. Maybe they just refused!? Otherwise a nice enough place with nice staff.

This is a good pub and was very busy when we went. The beers are well kept and the food very good value. I live 300 miles away so don't get there often . Unfortunately the two best beers had run out and the staff were too busy to change them. But the Deukers was a reasonable sub and at least we didn't have to suffer Greene King's apologies for beer.
It's a great policy of allowing other breweries' better beers on.

Came here on a works christmas do which had been planned and the menu ordered in advance. We were all looking forward to it until they brought the food out, everything was inedible. The starters were disgusting, raw sausages on top of cold chicken strips, prawn cocktails with dried up salad and stale bread, garlic mushrooms which were actually just mushrooms with cheese on. I don?t think a single person ate the starters. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited for the mains. 5 of us had ordered steak and 5 steaks went back to the kitchen uneaten, 2 steaks were completely raw (supposed to be medium rare) and the others were supposed to be well done and were dripping in blood. The burgers were also raw and uncooked properly, the christmas dinner was microwaved and had cold gravy, the pie was more like a big blob of pastry. All mains went back and we didn?t eat the meal. After our organiser complained we were told by the manager to drink up and leave, really wouldn?t recommend at all.

We went with a large group for a festive event. The food was lovely and served by an amazing group of staff. We watched the entertainer they had on . All our group enjoyed it and we're singing along . Some in our group had never been before and loved every minute

We came here for a work Christmas party that had been planned for weeks, with the menu pre-ordered well in advance, but the entire evening was a total disaster. The food was utterly inedible. The starters were revolting?raw sausages thrown on top of cold chicken strips, prawn cocktails with dried-up salad and stale bread, and "garlic mushrooms" that were just soggy mushrooms covered in melted cheese. Not a single person could eat them.
Hoping the mains might salvage the night, we waited, but it only got worse. Five of us ordered steak, and not one was edible. Two were raw and bloody despite being ordered medium-rare, and the rest, meant to be well-done, were dripping in blood. The burgers were undercooked and raw in the middle, the Christmas dinner was clearly microwaved with cold gravy, and the pie was just a big, doughy blob of undercooked pastry. Everything went back to the kitchen untouched.
When our organiser complained, the manager finally appeared, announcing that she had come from her own night out to ?deal with us,? as if we were the problem. While she did eventually issue a refund, her attitude was far from professional. The refund didn?t make up for the appalling food or the ruined night. I wouldn?t recommend this place to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

Just wanted to share an experience I have had here seen as though my name has been mentioned (GDPR Regulations non existent). As a manager of a care company, and taking my team out for a Xmas meal which has been a tough year to work and they all deserve to be treated and relaxed just for one night. This meal was pre booked and was paid for before we even had eaten, the food was very poor to the point that nobody touched their meals. What i do not take kindly to is the lies from the staff, now you have CCTV in your pub please feel free to go through and see where this threatening behaviour was!!!
I have a right to complain which i did and to my amazement your staff was not even trained to process a refund who was the manager in charge in the absence of the GM. I did request a FULL REFUND sorry but i would not serve the food to my dog let alone to other people!! so yes i am going to request a full refund, i also would love to know this 17 year old who we made ''WALK OUT'' just as I apparently made your staff ''DEMAND'' you to come into the pub yet another Lie however you would not address this on the night would you?
Another thing WHO was eating food prior to coming, we had bags on Xmas presents on the table with wrappers!!! Not a nice allegation to make towards us especially when your staff came to the tables and the only thing we had was alcohol, maybe you should clean the pub correctly instead of trying to blame it on other people. I would honestly welcome you to check your CCTV as nobody had eaten anything in fact my staff had not eaten all day because we was looking forward to an Xmas meal!
After I complained we was simply told drink up and leave!! BECAUSE THEY TOOK ON MORE THAN WHAT THEY CAN HANDLE!!! DONT WORRY THIS HAS NOW GONE TO AN OFFICAL COMPLAINT TO GREENE KING!!! And you have no need to respond with anymore lies so please do not respond to this review. It has been taken up with head office. Merry Christmas :)

We were looking for a dog friendly pub in Pontefract. We first called The Cobbler, but they don't allow dogs, and then we called here.
Walking in, I realised this is the most dog friendly pub I've ever seen! Free treats, and they organise a monthly dog walk and breakfast! The staff were lovely, they were running a doggy advent calendar, so our puppy got a free treat and their photo on the Instagram page.
10/10, no notes, when we're next visiting family this will be our go-to pub.

Had christmas day dinner and what a dissapointment. Paid over £300 for 6 people,table booked for 2.30 starter came at 3.50 soup luke warm,main meal everything just slapped on not well presented usually get food in turins to help yourself. Turf and surf oven chips steak lacked taste,christmas pudding was a thin slice of cake. Tables not even decorated will not be wasting money again. Not staff fault but kitchen could of done better for the amount of money was paid
