All Saints Church pontefract is the most unusual Church i have seen. The outside dates from the 14th century. The church was ruined in the english civil war, the tower was built in the 18th century. A new modern style church was built inside in the 1960s and is part of the old church.

Go for the ruins the church is built within. So atmospheric and profound.

Sadly been there for a funeral.
It's beautiful to see how a modern Anglican church has been built into the ruins.
The last time I came here was 60 years ago for a christening.
It's a beautiful place with lots of history.
Well worth a visit.

From All Saints Church - Pontefract
We are a living, vibrant worshipping community of Christians who meet in our wonderful 'Church in a Church' inside the ruins of the original buildings that were ruined during the sieges of Pontefract Castle. Part of the Benefice of Pontefract, we work alongside St. Giles and St. Marys as part of the Church of England witness to our communities.
Services every Sunday mornings and evenings and Wednesday mornings. Also Weddings and Baptisms / Christenings by arrangement. See our Website for up to date times, and special events and other information and help.
