Ordered delivery,
Only thing that was nice was the boiled rice and the onion bajis.
Chicken nuggets were rock hard and my 4 year old couldnt eat them, chips were soggy and tasted like they were either microwaved or lived a happy life in a pool of fat before making their way to my plate.
Curries didnt taste like anything (balti and dopiza) and couldnt tell the difference between the 2.
The final peice la resistance was the chapatis.. thick, heavy and lack taste. Would have had more chance eating a rubber Frisbee in honesty.
Cost £40 and will never order again... had to cook for my boy as he wouldnt eat any of it.
Do not recommend!

We went here for our wedding anniversary with the family following a recommendation made by my daughter's boyfriend.
The waiter was amazing and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our meal . I had the Balti king prawn makhani which I've never had before but it was amazing . In fact I couldn't eat it fast enough as it was so good . I shared a special sharing platter with hubbie and the flavours and variety was outstanding. You can bring your own drinks but we'd travelled from county Durham so opted to have soft drinks there. It's a shame the restaurant wasn't busy but we went early on a Thursday.
We are already planning our next trip there.
Also the cost was so cheap considering the 4 of us had dips,poppadoms,2 nan bread,starters,mains and rice as well as soft drinks.
Dietary restrictions: I don't like cardamon and the waiter took the time to ensure this was not in my meal
Parking: Parking available across the street ,paid before 6 pm

Been going here for years, it's very traditional and lovely consistently good food, very reasonably priced.
Great varied menu and pretty quick service.
If they kids want a chicken nugget and chips as an alternative they will do this also (no kids menu as such).
Don't expect a high level venue as this is how traditional food should be, rather than having to say high prices in a glossy decor venue..I definitely rate the food as traditional, authentic, great quality and wonderfully tasty.
Friendly staff and such good value.
If you want food served the way it should be, without all that glamour of an expensive high class restaurant, then head here.

Myself and my 10 year old daughter did not eat nothing as everything was way too spicy, even chicken tikka masala. It all swimmed in fat too.Unfortunately won't order again ????

Authentic and very tasty Balti cooking with attentive, warm and friendly restaurant staff. Two starters and two mains with a family naan was sufficient for a hungry family of four. Will definitely eat here again when we?re next in Pontefract. Highly recommended ????

Hadn't been to Al Jamil since lockdown as we usually use their takeaway service as the food is always good. Called in for a meal with friends on 18th February and the waiters have changed. New staff couldn't be friendlier attentive, and polite. Great experience and the usual high standard of food with a great selection to choose from.
