Food was really nice with good portion sizes. I was disappointed by their dog friendly policy though, as they say they are dog friendly but dogs are not allowed inside the premises. They are however allowed in the seating area outside which isn?t much good if it?s raining!
We saw it was dog friendly when we googled ?dog friendly pubs near Oulton Hall?, I?m sorry that google has misled us but that is the only reason we came to your pub as we travel with our dog!

Have lived in the area most of my life but never been here for food. The menu is very typical pub fare, burgers, lasagne, pie etc. We ordered steak pie, gammon, Cajun chicken and burger. The sides of salad and veg were typical and a bit dull but the chips were actually homemade and not you?re frozen nonsense, as was the mash, the stars of the show were definitely the meat, the burger was a thick homemade patty, the gammon thick but well cooked and moist, the chicken was spicy and tender, but the real hero was the steak pie, the steak was so tender and a very generous size. The staff were lovely, welcoming and chatty. Overall, just what you want from a friendly local, we?ll go again.

Lovely lunch with my friend. Close to home but my first visit. Friendly and helpful staff though was a bit dismayed re drinks. I had half pint of soda water at no charge, which is what most pubs do, but my friend had a pint of soda with lime and they charged her £2.80!! That's expensive lime!

Unfortunately this was a really disappointing experience. Had to wait nearly an hour for a single soup starter and then our mains seemed to take an age to come after that. The staff did apologise for the wait after about 45 mins, but gave no indication of when the food would come. We had to buy crisps from the bar to keep us going. The food itself wasn?t good at all and half our meals didn?t end up getting eaten- even though we were all starving! Definitely wouldn?t recommend based on our visit.

Little fella behind the bar refused our group a round of baby Guinness because ?we?d had enough? but proceeded to serve us a round of beers. Very clicky, only welcome if you?re a local/regular.

Food was awful. Burgers were dry, beef was dry, broccoli was undercooked. You know it?s bad when the best part of my meal was the drink. The server came across as a tad creepy as he tended to linger around for a while too long and stared at us however, he did his job. The cake and ice cream was fine. Not coming back unless the server asks me on a date (not the one that was staring, the other guy. He was kinda cute I suppose).
