Such a cool coffee shop. Their coffee selection is impressive and varied with some really tasty blends. Their cooked breakfast was hefty and really well out together. Nice decor, nice vibe, nice people

Unique coffee and pastry experience
My nephew took me and my family experience what Leeds folk have for brunch. Well I wasn't disappointed with the coffee shop's fame for its unique pastries and unique shapes they draw on creamy coffees. That was last Aug 2024 during our trip to The UK. I guess I gave a late review but better than never. Thank you.

Visited here sat 15th march
The good: the pastry?s were great (we had the cinnamon pecan one and the pistachio pain au Chocolat )
The okay: staff were a bit inattentive but it was very busy
The bad: our coffees (two cappuccinos) were over steamed and there was no discernible froth at all. On first sip the coffee was scaldingly hot at a level I would only expect from an americano. No complaints about the flavour from the roast though.

It pains me to write this as I have been buying North Star beans for years because the coffee is excellent and the service in the store used to be too, but of late every time I go, I just end up wondering why I've subjected myself to the miserable staff to pay £14 a bag for coffee again. Half the people working there are just so visibly miserable and intolerably rude. I just wanted to pay for some coffee beans and the woman at the podium quite literally looked at me like she wished I was dead with hate in her eyes for asking her if I could pay for them, whilst saying please and thank you to her the whole time. Ordered some sweets to go and they left me standing at the end of the bar while they all couldn't be bothered boxing them until eventually one of the baristas asked what we were waiting for as they were out of tickets and then sorted them out. She'd asked the other really miserable lady to sort them, and she said she would, but then just, didn't bother. We had brunch here the other week on a random weekday (the place was not that busy at the time so not rushed off their feet) and the service was equally miserable from half the people we interacted with (the waitress that day was the same one who couldn't bother boxing the sweets today being honest) and the food wasn't what it used to be. It was so disappointing when I was really looking forward to it as brunch in town isn't something I get to do often due to work but it just wasn't worth the effort of getting there to be treated like you're bothering people for being there when they've for some reason taken a job in customer service even though they clearly hate customers. I won't unfortunately be going back and will just need to plan my supply better to have time to order from some of the many other suppliers in Yorkshire available online that are also high quality and ethically sourced. Maybe the owner needs to have some people he trusts but his team don't know drop in some day and experience what some of his customers are experiencing instead of just making excuses for why his miserable, rude staff are miserable and rude.

Stopped by for a quick bite and a coffee before heading to the Royal Armouries. Just made it in before the kitchen closed - glad we did because the sausage breakfast butty was next level, and the eggs and cheese combo was brilliant too! Everything was spot on - cheers for looking after us!

Tried to go here with my family and 3 children on Monday of half term. I was greeted with an unwelcoming response where it was made evident that we were not welcome. I was deeply disappointed by the level of decency I was treated with and will not be returning.

Such a great spot for brunch! Great coffee and cakes. Always really buzzy. You can book in advance which I'd recommend but I've never been turned away even when it's really busy. The best grilled cheese in Leeds!
Dietary restrictions: Alternative milks available. Menu well labelled for allergens
Parking: On street parking nearby

I am so blessed to live above North Star. Coffee is always amazing. The guatemalan roast is my favourite for an espresso. Sandwiches are incredible. The staff are so sweet, really friendly and helpful.

We didn't get past the cold welcome sadly, being told to get back in the entrance queue-line (despite there being no queue or host) and then when we asked how long we may need to wait for a table for four adults & three children the response was a straight "definitely not". Instead we found a friendly cafe just around the corner in the Holiday Inn Express.
