Took my car in for an MOT and service, it was failed due to an oil leak and they said they wouldn't bother doing the service as there was no point with it failing (even though I'd already paid in advance for these). They said they don't fix oil leaks so I'd have to take it elsewhere.I took it to another garage who told me that the car shouldn't have been failed and the oil leak should have been an advisory as it was only a very small leak. They said that this leak could be resolved with a service! So Halfords failed my MOT for something it shouldn't have... And refused to do the service which would have fixed the problem they failed the car on.So I've had to fork out another £200 on something I shouldn't have had to if they did their jobs properly. Will not be returning and will be cancelling my motoring club membership!

Wouldn't repair a puncture in middle of tread, wouldn't even look at the tyre, gave some rubbish excuse. Yet another garage repaired it no problem. The boy behind the desk clearly just wanted to sell tyres, wasn't interested in providing a good service. If you need a tyre repair, go to A1 tyres down the road instead.

Normally I would give 5 stars, but my visit to Halfords this time was disappointing. After having a new cambelt and water pump replaced a week before, I was told by the mechanics to keep an eye on the car temperature, as they replaced the fan belt free of charge. Anyway after 3/4 days, the cars temperature gauge was heating up quickly, with only a couple of miles driven. So I booked a day the mechanic was free, I took car in and was advised of the time scale, which was 3 hours, 3 hours passed and I was told the mechanics never had a chance to look at it as they had 2 MOT'S to do, so I have wasted my time and why didn't they contact me stating they couldn't look at my car, so again I have to make another appointment, oh by the way, I was told that the said mechanic had taken a holiday break, knowing I had an appointment with them. Due to my ill health, days, times are precious, due to the amount of different health professional I see, I booked with Halfords when I'm not at physio, or other healthcare appointments, but to book an appointment, with no phone call after I booked the car in, 3 hours went by, on my return to say mechanic is on holiday, unannounced, and car not looked at, was terribly annoying, another day was booked for Friday 20th October. That appointment has been cancelled by me due to another heath appointment. So Now waiting for Halfords to phone me if Monday 23rd October is free for me to return at 08:30 am. Hence why I dropped 2 stars due to the above let down.Friday 20th October, new appointment made and I was at Halfords Auto Centre, mechanic was waiting for me, within two hours the car work was done. Very happy now, just a pain to have previous appointment messed up. I will be back.

Will tell you need brakes to pass mot and won't prove the machine readout. Brakes were fine and didn't need replacing. Do not trust this garage.

Service and communication was good. However as a car enthusiast, do take precaution at changing tyres. Unfortunately my two front alloys were damaged/scratched in the process and it was obviously denied by them. Should have taken before and after photos, but have to learn from my mistakes and definitely won't be coming here to change again.

Been driving around in our car for the last two days since taking it in for a service at Meadow Lane Halfords and it has never driven so well. After years of taking it to the dealership for servicing, we are definitely using Halfords in future. The staff kept us informed at all times, the service was done in good time and it was efficient in all respects. Very happy!

Untrustworthy. I went for a free brake check and was told that all brake pads needing replacing plus rear discs, as a minimum (£261). They also said front discs had wear and tear too and could optionally be replaced. They quoted me £460 for all pads and discs replacing. Wilko Autosave gave a second opinion, stating that ONLY the rear discs and pads needed replacing for £180. They continued to say that the front discs were PERFECT condition and front pads still have good life on them (5mm). Halford quoted me a total of £460 and I only actually needed to pay £180? The most suspect part: Halfords later sent a brake health report stating the front discs were 100% condition (the truth on record just in case?). Which raises the question of why they quoted me £200 for new ones?

Used this Halford autocentre a number of time over the years and always found it good, however I took my car in to get the breaks checked on Monday as one of them was rubbing and was told all of the disks and pads now need changed and it was not safe to drive. After being quite shocked at the cost to do this I felt it was the only thing to do as I needed to pick the kids up later. The car was due to be finished by 5pm but at 4.30pm I got a call to say there was a issue with the calliper now and it would be another £300! Which I had to agree to as I could not drive it without it being fixed. Speaking to my local garage I think Halfords have charged me double for what I could have got done there.I would avoid this place at all costs unless you want to get ripped off!Service: Brakes

Booked in for MOT and service for 11.30, confirmation email stated to allow 1-3 hours. Dropped car off at 11.15 and told car will be ready at end of day. When queried I was told I had booked MOT booked for4pm. I queried this point and was told the online booking service was just a guideline. Had to cancel my plans for the rest of the day due to this. Got a call after service was completed to be informed wiper blades would not pass MOT: I queried this as they were o ly put on last October and we had a fairly dry winter and long dry summer so should not be worn, also I drive from Leeds to Skipton on Wednesday in pouring rain and had no problems with the blades.I believe they pick on minor issues like this so you are forced into making unnecessary purchases. I had no choice but to authorise replacement blades to get MOT. I had the blades checked, nothing wrong with them. ?First time MOT and service booked with Halfords, will definitely be the last.??????Service: General repairs & maintenance
