Not been in here for years so decided to drop in for a pint while out walking with the youngest one afternoon . The place has been decorated and modernized since I was last in . Looked nice and clean and the pint and coke were nice and refreshing. There wasn't many in but it was a Tuesday afternoon in Feb , overall not a bad place .

Nice pub
December 2024 by Clive Hemingway
All the pub's comfortable seating has been taken out, leaving mostly just tables and chairs.
The ambience wasn't very welcoming in general.
I didn't feel comfortable.
Had one pint and then left.
Don't think I will return.
The pint was good, but the layout of the pub, and what's in it, needs a lot of work.

Went for a couple of pints in the evening after booking into travelodge at Ferrybridge, only a short distance away.

function room is really good (we set up to fit 34 seats, but potential for a few more), with access to outside balcony overseeing canal. lovely staff that go above and beyond. thank you to Natalie that helped us out when we were decorating and during our party. definitely recommend

At 09:08 Friday morning i received a txt saying unfortunately due to flooding from the roof we will have to cancel your booking for you 60th birthday celebrations, i phoned Tracy at The Golden Lion to see if they had a function room and told yes, so popped down had a look booked it for the following night.
I would definitely book it again and certainly highly recommend, I had around 35/40 guests two guys on guitars and buffet table, bar prices where spot on and friendly staff, i think the girl behind the bar was new which due to most guests attending at the same time caused a little backlog but once there were 2 ppl serving then drinks where flowing.
I personally cant thank Tracy and staff enough it was brilliant, alot of my guest also asked about the room.
Once again
Thank you for making my 60th birthday go ahead x

We had been to the aquatics centre nearby and called in here for a drink. It was quiet, but a nice traditional pub with well presented facilities. A good choice of drinks and dog friendly too,

I often moor my boat at Ferrybridge Lock, a short walk from this pub. There is a new chef here, Kek, he and his family run the food side of things Weds to Sun. We've had a takeaway from here before which was excellent, last night we had our godson with us so we ate in and the food is even better if you eat in, it's a mixture of Thai/English/European food. The Pad Thai comes on a sizzling platter and is delicious. Really good service, friendly bar staff and it's roomy clean and spacious. Starter and mains for 3 of us was under £54.
