We had to wait an hour and a half for food and not told they were short staffed in the kitchen until an hour had passed. The server was obviously embarrassed and kept apologising whilst the management were conspicuous by their absence.

Had the crispy pork belly main dish at £18.95 and it was awful. It was way too salty, very dry and unappetising. I won’t be eating there again.

The traditional bar with stone floors and an open fire is a haven for walkers and dog owners who enjoy the many routes around this beautiful corner of the Holme Valley. The pub has been an essential part of the village for around 70 years and remains a social hub for locals and tourists alike.
