We stumbled across this little gem whilst mountain biking. A great place to get a no frills brew and to stock up on snacks for the rest of the day.

I was born and brought up round colden and smithy lane. I've been going to Mays shop for years. We went on Wednesday. Was great to see may. And look around her Aladdins cave of goodies. Glad to see the shop still been well used. You can get a brew that's always good

Amazing pies and hot cross buns, but even better was the super friendly chats and encouragement for the Pennine Way! Also, she was spot on about how long it would take us to get to Ponden Reservoir!!

Great little spot, everything you may need is stocked at May's, alcohol a tad overpriced but happy to pay as when i stayed at Hillside just up the road, May's is the only shop in the area.. the Pork Pies are a must

I met May today, what a lovely woman. Shop is well stocked, but that's not why I went. I went specially to meet May. She's one of a kind. People like her are national treasures.I arrived here after a long walk uphill from Hebden Bridge via Heptonstall, so the cup of tea I had was the best cuppa ever. If you visit here, treat May with the reverence she deserves.

A real gem of a place that has everything you could think of & various other bits that you didn?t know you needed until you laid eyes on them ?May is an absolute legend & everyone who works there is lovey. They do fantastic sandwiches & they sell their own farm reared ham.Hot & cold drinks with an array of cakes.Mays sell everything from Gin to blue tack & is open 7 days a week with picnic tables outside & a public loo. It?s a great place to include in a bit of a trek towards Colden.I think everyone I know has ventured to Mays for decades from being babes in arms.Love the place ??
