We were booked in for a mother's day meal which we were really looking forward to. I ordered the chicken roast dinner however this was served to me RAW!! I cut it open and it had barley even been cooked! I was very disappointed and I am not at all happy as I could have been seriously ill

Fantastic location and very friendly staff. We booked for an early lunch as I was taking my elderly Mother and her sister, but had to wait 45 minutes until we received our meal. The excuse we were given on leaving was that a party of 13 had arrived before us - I would have thought they would prioritise those who had actually booked a table, or at the very least informed us at the outset that there would be a considerable delay. This would have then given us the option to go elsewhere.
My Mother's gammon was extremely tough such that she couldn't eat it. To be fair they did apologise, and take the cost of the meal from the bill. My vegan Mediterranean salad was iceberg lettuce topped with a small amount of chopped aubergine, peppers and onion - which was greasy and poorly seasoned.
I've eaten here in the past and been happy with both the food and the service. We will, unfortunately, not be eating here again.

Arrived 18:01 at the bar on a Thursday after sitting in traffic for an hour longer than the planned Journey, they had just served 4 people before us but wouldn't serve me and my pal because it was now after 6pm ... poor service as we was going to sit outside like the other customers did.

The service was very poor indeed. Two different menu's which even the staff couldn't work out. When our expensive food arrived it was in takeaway boxes. We were sat in the beer garden. The fish was greasy and sloppy. 10 chips each which were cold!! Everything was cooked in the microwave. Wooden knives and forks!!! My girlfriend had a bad stomach soon after and the next day. I have NEVER eaten such bad food in my life. Massively expensive. NEVER TRY THIS PLACE

We came here for lunch after a lovely day clay pigeon shooting.
We were hungry after shooting and decided to come here as it was next door.
Once we arrived we spoke to a waitress and explained we had no booking but asked if we could we have lunch there, we were conscious that there was 7 of us so we might not get a table with no reservation but we were flexible and happy to eat there if they had space or happy to go somewhere else.
They explained that we could sit down at a table but there may be a wait on food. We said no problem, we?ll have a pint and wait to be able to order food!
After we ordered a pint, we were informed that we could actually in fact eat which was great so we looked at the menu and ordered.
Two of our party had specific dietary requirements and asked if they could have a side as a starter size, to which they kindly said yes and the food was ordered.
The food came quick enough, we ate it. Out of everything we ordered it was average at best.
The chicken burger was so dry that the coleslaw was needed to lubricate the burger to be able to eat.
The roast was plain with no seasoning,
just very bland and average but something to fill the tummy!
After we finished, our plates were cleared and then we asked for the bill.
Upon receiving the bill, one of the sides which was the portobello mushroom was charged at £8 per portion which we thought was a bit steep considering that they were so small they gave us 2 per portion and even then both didn?t equate to a full sized big portobello mushroom. It had nothing else on it, just a single small mushroom on a plate, with no toppings, no seasoning - just plain, no thrills.
So one of our party questioned this and asked why it was so much (we had ordered 2 portions so it was £16 all together) and explained that she didn?t think that we should pay that much as she doesn?t think it?s worth it, especially when an entire child?s roast is priced at £10 (which is only £2 more and you get a lot more for the price).
The waitress then told us that we could have our £16 back but none of us were ever welcome in the establishment?. Which seems a very odd way to react to a worthy complaint that wasn?t expressed with aggression or nastiness, just a very matter of fact questioning about something on the bill - which is usually quite a normal thing that can happen when someone?s paying the bill.
Extremely unhappy with the response to something that seems quite trivial and the way that it was handled, it feels like a very extreme way to react to a very normal and reasonable question.
We might of come back if we came for a walk in the Chevin, but obviously not now. There?s no love lost in our recent banning as it?s extremely over priced and very underwhelming! Just be careful if you go there and you don?t like the chefs food, because you get what you?re given ?

Called as we were passing, didn't book but we were accommodated for a Sunday lunch and it was delicious and the staff were friendly. Good pint of Wharedale Best too. Will definitely be back.

Had a fab meal this evening, the Valentines menu was excellent. The 3 courses were very well presented and very tasty. Couldn't fault it at all. Atmosphere and service was great too. Thanks ?.

The staff at The Royalty couldn?t have been nicer, more helpful and kind. We had a family gathering there and they looked after us brilliantly. The food was great and the view is spectacular. Thanks for looking after us so well.

Visiting family in the area. Lovely location/views.. very friendly and welcoming.. food outstanding.. good quality..home made.. the pork belly bites starter was amazing but could of had it as a main course!!

Ruby was honestly the best waitress that has served us in such a long time. Her presence was so welcoming and made us feel relaxed and at ease. She recommended us food, told us the specials making our choice very easy. We enjoyed our time so much we stayed for 3 courses. We just want to say such a big thank you to Ruby for her excellent service. The food was fantastic and the views were great! I?d definitely recommend the pie to anyone going !!
