We stayed here for one night for my husbands birthday. We booked an executive room that overlooked the lake. The room was beautiful, comfortable bed, tea and coffee in the room. It's was perfect to be honest. We were unfortunatley disappointed with the evening meal, my husband ordered a 10oz pork which was undercooked (chef took this back to cook it a little extra)My tender stem broccoli was more like crispy seaweed but I didn't complain. We also had breakfast with our package which was nice with more variety. It's a pity there's not a wider variety of food and be aware there are additional costs for your meal, not everything is included in the meal package. In fact there's not much at all.My advice would be to eat out if possible. We didn't let this spoil our visit, the staff were all lovely and really helpful. The whole place is quite beautiful and worth a visit.

My daughter booked afternoon tea for mothers day. We were very disappointed. The sandwiches were tasteless and we didn't get tuna. The scones were plain i like fruit scones. Cakes were OK. Waitress was good. Definitely won't be going back.

What a beautiful place, but this was a nightmare from start to finish from booking to leaving. My main concern was the evening meal my chicken was off and the smell was horrendous. I mentioned it to a manger who advised he will let the chef know. I waited nothing, then a waiter told me that the chef was in the kitchen talking about how bad it smelt even then no one came over. We waited and still nothing we ended up leaving going back to the room and ended up with a bill the next day. A manager did apologise the next day when I mentioned it but still the customer service is shocking I can say I definitely won?t be returning.Walkability: Amazing walks for dogs very pretty and relaxing

Arrived here for a special 3 generation Mother's Day treat. Had to pay £30 deposit in advance to reserve the table.Very limited menu but in beautiful surrounds. Very friendly greeter and waitress who tried her best to make amends for the appalling food.First course Pate on brioche toast. Frozen brioche toast still slightly frozen. Cold bland Pate, no butter. Limp old rocket.Main course.... like warm build limp beef. Watered down gravy. Like warm mash and thoroughly imaginative cabbage and carrots.School dinners would be a compliment.First and last visit by 3 ladies devastated on Mother's day by such a disappointing let down of a meal.Food & drinks: School dinner standard on a bad day

Went for a spa day here which included a facial the products used caused severe irritation around my eyes, I contacted them the following day to ask for help/advice and was told someone would call me back, this was a week ago and I am still waiting to hear back from them.

As the GM was only interested in rebutting our feedback, I've decided to share our experience for others to be aware of.We've been staying at Chevin Country Park a couple of times a year for the last 8 years and have seen a steap decline in service and quality especially in the restaurant in recent years. We rang ahead yesterday to push our dinner reservation back to 18:30, but upon arrival this had not been actioned. When we arrived at the restaurant there were 5 staff stood chatting just to left of the kitchen door. The manager saw us and took us to our table and explained the menu to us.We also noted the "special limited offer" we paid for our stay was the same price as the standard price listed upon booking in.The menu is much simpler than it used and certainly far less exciting than the former tasting menus Crevar Chevin used to serve. We ordered our food and wine an waited. It took 10 minutes for the wine to arrive in a room with less than 5 tables to serve. When the wine arrived it was dumped on the table in the wine bucket with "here's your white wine" and nudged my wife saying "are you going to share it with him".So no understanding of service, with inappropriate humour/behaviour to cover it up.We poured our own wine and the starters arrived promptly and were great for the most part. The menu listed "confit cherry tomatoes" but these were not served confit simply oven roasted. No check-back on food served.Starters were cleared and mains arrived. But my Sir loin was served medium-well instead of medium-rare. Again, with no check-back on food served I had to shout across the restaurant to get the attention of staff as most were at the station chatting instead of waiting tables. The steak was sent back and reverted promptly, which I did appreciate.Overall, with the abundance of staff in the restaurant you would expect some basic level of service to be offered rather than them all stood with the manager at the front chatting.Breakfast was okay, no toast served with the full English and a clearly rationed selection with 1 piece of bacon and 1 small sausage. Black pudding also missed from the 'good old days'!The toast machine is not fit for service taking far too long to process a single slice of toast.Overall lack of options again, no eggs royal or florentine which we used to love. Two lights in room 7 do not work, 3/4 of the TV channels do not work. Door to outside has a draft and the shower has no pressure. Also, the sink is installed at an angle and everything slides off.Positives:Poached egg for breakfast were perfect.Spa as good as always.Australian Sauvignon Blanc was delicious.Sadly overall, the venue we fell in love with is now a shell of its former self, and the result of this has put us off from returning again as we feel we would get better value elsewhere.Since Mark Starkey left as GM the venue has been left to ruin from top to bottom and lost everything that made it incredible. Truly heartbreaking.Rooms: Poorly maintained and sorely dated.

Great hotel with really nice cabin rooms available. Had squirrels coming up to the cabin windows on a morning and taking bread from our hands. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Myself and my partner had great chat with Judith at the bar and Tracey who was running the dining area. ?

Friendly staff. Great breakfasts. We had a bit of trouble with our bath in the room we booked so we were upgraded to an executive suite with more space and outside seating. Customer service at its finest. The spa is also nice. Will definitely be back.
