In the last 18 months we have been to 3 Premier inns, and 2 travel lodges. And this one was the best of the lot, with the most helpful staff, and it is the cleanest best kept establishment and bedroom by many motorway miles. This in our experience is a perfect example of how to run a Premier inn perfectly Thankyou.

Desperate need of an update. Clean and comfortable. Attached pub is not good to the point it's enough for me not to rebook.

An excellent stop for us as we were travelling North for a celebration last Saturday evening. The Hotel called as we were leaving our home just to confirm our booking and to wish us a safe journey. Such a lovely gesture! I forget the name of the lady on the Reception desk - she had short dark hair - however she was particularly friendly, spoke with my little boy who was dressed as a 'monkey' as part of the dressing up party we had just attended, ensured that check in was fast paced, told us details about breakfast the following morning and booked us in ready before giving us 2x key cards for our room. We stayed in room 16. A beautiful size room for four - 2x adults, 1 child and a cot for the baby. Exceptionally clean, warm, cosy and a special note (and treats) to welcome us! We booked dinner also through the lady which guaranteed us a table that evening for 5:45pm at the Brewers Fayre restaurant next door (half a minute walk from the hotel)Very attentive and welcoming staff; we ordered drinks at the bar and our meal choices - mixed grill (highly recommended), tortilla chips and a child's spaghetti bolognaise.) Allergies were asked about too which is so important (although we had none) If you have a 'blue light card', you can get a 25% discount on food orders; such a gift saving! The only downside was the fifty minute wait!!! Plenty of room to walk around and 'explore' with my son but he was especially tired at 6:45pm when we then started eating! (We brought dominoes, some colouring books, reading books to entertain him during the wait) Staff apologised for the delay too. Everything was delicious however the tortilla chips were not the best. A few crisps on a plate, a dollop of sour cream in the middle sprinkled with cut up chilli and spring onion. Very dry! My mixed grill on the other hand was delicious!!!!! Children's offer £4.95 for a meal or three courses for £5.95.A fabulous night sleep had by all! The room was temperature controlled with the thermostat in the wall, it was dark - great blackout curtains and quiet too. You couldn't hear the road even though was a Tesco roughly four minutes away! It was a no smoking room too.We returned the following morning for breakfast at Brewers Fayre - this had been paid for in advance. Booked for 9am however as we woke later than expected as we all slept so well, there was no problem changing the time to 10am. I believe breakfast was from 8-11am if I remember correctly. Once again, we were welcomed, allergies were checked for (we have none) and a lovely table for four with a highchair was set up for us. Long queues for the hot buffet which was fine as we started with croissants/crumpets/cereal. People were ravenous though when the fresh produce came out like bacon/sausage/eggs...!! Quite literally a stampede!! As a result, in my opinion, I didn't feel the hash browns had been cooked long enough - they looked rather soggy and the bacon was underdone in order to 'quickly get it out because people were waiting!' I wouldn't recommend the breakfast again but maybe it was the time 10am that we chose. If we had stuck originally to 9am, maybe then the whole experience would have been far better. Really friendly staff, more than willing to go above and beyond but the food quality and the queue for drinks, combined with the very slow and non-browning toasters made breakfast a disappointing experience. The juice was made from concentrate and the pan a chocolaté a d croissants were very dry! A few tweaks and I'm sure this element could be improved upon.Just to add, the free internet connection for us was absolutely fine in the hotel - we did not have to upgrade as we weren't using tablets/downloading films, etc... Fluffy towels, extra pillows and shampoo were in the room for us.sk we didn't have to bring out own.

Stayed her for 2 nights during work trip. Would definitely recommend itPositives:- Apart from the newer Premier Inns in the UK, this is probably one of the best Premier Inns I've stayed- Very comfortable double beds- Strong hot and cold shower- large room- desk space- friendly and cheerful reception staff- breakfast in the connecting restaurant is good- plenty of parkingNegatives:- not many but if I was to be fussy then not many eateries apart from the restaurant next door. Subways also across the road

Whilst they offer car parking free for guests, the car park is chargeable for anybody else who enters the car park. I was fined for stopping 15 minutes whilst visiting a guest in the car park, I didn't even leave my car, which was ridiculous in a half empty car park. Whilst the car park and fines aren't run by premier inn, it is still the car park on the site of the hotel and reflects badly on Premier Inn. Simply visiting for 20 minutes to book a room for a future date would result in a fine in the post, not a good look for the hotel. This isn't central London!
