While visiting family in the UK we were taken to Birchwood Farm for a traditional English breakfast. On entering the restaurant there was no one to greet us or show us to a table. We got menus from a stack on a nearby service table. Although we were not really wanting a buffet, the a la carte menu was limited to Eggs Benedict and breakfast sandwiches. So buffet it was. The buffet looked miserable to say the least. The bacon was hard, cold and swimming in grease. The black pudding looked like old hockey puck and the bangers, overcooked and burnt. A choice of fried eggs, again floating in grease or scrambled, at least that's what we thought they were. Tinned tomatoes, baked beans and mushrooms were also on offer. The buffet area was in desperate need of a wipe down from all the splashed grease threatening to get on guests clothes. A self service toaster with a basket of white and wheat bread were available. However, the 2 toasters were not working. The same with the coffee machine and hot water machine. We mentioned to the manager regarding to non functioning appliances and we got a muttered apology but no offer to comp us some alternative drinks. We had to order (and pay extra) for juices just to have something to drink. Our British family were embarrassed by the poor dining experience, having built up the Full English breakfast. In essence, the service was non existent, the food sub par and the atmosphere lacking. All in all the only thing that was good about going to Birchwood Farm is we were with our family.

Called in for a breakfast and was greeted by lovely members of staff. The lady behind the bar Kelly D who served us was very pleasant and very professional. It's always nice to see a friendly smiling face even more so on a morning which isn't always everyone's favourite time of the day. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a very enjoyable breakfast. Hope we see her again

Returned again after a previous visit and once again was really enjoyable . Good food and fantastic service from Tegan and Chloe who looked after us and made us feel very welcome . Would recommend to anyone who is in the area .

Had a really nice carvery lunch, we hadn?t booked but were seated to a table. lots of vegetable choices and all very nicely cooked and hot. Our server was Jake and he gladly gave us a box to take our leftover meat and pigs in blankets home for our dogs.

Food was fine, one main meal and one carvery. Service was quick and food was hot. Disappointed that each time we come here now there are hardly any of the cakeaway choices available. It is the reason we choose to eat here when we fancy those cakes as desserts. The counter displays many choices but only 1 cheesecake and 1 cake were available. At least you could choose to display the sold out signs like you used to do then people would know before ordering their main meals that the desserts they want aren't available and could go somewhere else instead - but then you'd lose custom which is why I'm guessing you've stopped using the sold out signs. Too often this is the same problem - other pubs in this chain don't seem to have the same issue. Will make us choose elsewhere in future to avoid disappointment.

Slight mess up with order but food was delicious Ordered a kids large Mac and cheese but my daughter said it was the cauliflower cheese from the buffet and was charged £4.99 Slightly annoying however the food itself was absolutely delicious I had the carvery and it's far better than toby carvery anyday Took some cake home aswell the chocolate cake is gorgeous we added cream ourselves

Firstly the staff serving on the tables were lovely. Super helpful, friendly and the only reason for 2 stars. After that I can?t say much else nice. Kids play area has gradually been emptied of broken equipment last few times we have been in but on this occasion there was a large cable laid out with the plug ripped off and open wires exposed. All day breakfast was absolutely dripping in grease. My other half said it was vile. I got a snarky carvery server who gave me the dried up edges broken off the meat and then when I asked very politely if they wouldn?t mind cutting me some fresh from the other side instead, gave me a big sigh and informed me that ?it all comes from the same joint? with an eye roll. As I?d been almost apologetic when asking I really didn?t like being spoken to like a child. I went back to my table pretty eager to finish our meal quickly and leave The rest of the carvery was so dried up and congealed it wasn?t great. Kids had nice meals on the whole. When Birchwood first opened it was really lovely but we?ve been a bit let down last few times we?ve been. As it?s local we?ve given it the benefit of the doubt but I think we will be looking elsewhere going forwards.

Came here today for a meal with my kids. I was hosted and seated by the lovely Kelly D. She made us all feel very welcome. We all decided on a carvery which was delicious, the chef that carved was James and he was very friendly and polite. The food was really nice and I didn?t leave a bite! Overall I had a really nice time here and will be back soon.

Went for a Birthday meal with 5 others, we all loved our meals. Service was pleasant and timely, atmosphere was relaxed and not rushed. Would recommend for anyone to go and enjoy a meal.

I have to say that today?s lunch was excellent, compared to the last time I came here to eat. For a change we were actually given some meat not a slither . The gravy was very tasty and thick. Think it was the manager who was the chef today . Well done! We will both be back.

Great breakfast. very good value. Served by Kelly D, who was very pleasant and helpful, as we wanted to book for lunch with a disabled person. Thoroughly recommend and commend Kelly D to you.

Great service from kelly d. Came for a quick bite to eat on my dinner break. Had the chicken skewers very nice I must say. Will definitely be back soon
