Lovely pub, great place to eat and drink. Staff were friendly and attentive. Have the steak pie, it was one of the best I've ever had.

Rooms lovely though no overnight stay on this midweek occasion, food excellent as always.Disappointing that we weren't in main pub for food and in a rather soul less room next door (where they do breakfast for staying guests at other times)Book to eat here for the character and ambience, so disappointing.Food and service excellent still. ?

We booked to stay on a Sat night after a wedding locally. Website looked good but sometimes in the flesh things are not as good. This is definitely not true of The Black Horse and Bert's Rooms. Such a friendly welcome, very accommodating as we arrived earlier than check in and shown to a very lovely room. Clean as a whistle, towels, robes, slippers, kettle AND nespresso coffee machine with all trimmings. Huge bed, gorgeous en-suite. We were well impressed! Breakfast in morning was waitress served, plenty of choice, well cooked and presented. Great value for money all round. The owners clearly know how to run a pub with rooms professionally, hospitably and successfully. Would definitely recommend. Thank you

If you?re looking for a great place to stay in Clifton, look no further, this fantastic ,family run B&B, restaurant and pub is very charming with great service. We had a fantastic room with a gorgeous free standing bath, it was the perfect, romantic get away, I would highly recommend. 10/10

We didn't have a reservation but we were lucky enough to get a table in what turned out to be a full restaurant on a Tuesday night. We both had a starter followed by the absolutely excellent steak & ale pie which we were assured was truly home made. It was so good one of us had it again the following night whilst the other had the equally enjoyable chicken dish. Friendly staff added to what was two enjoyable evenings at the Black Horse.

The Black Horse really hit the spot! A old-world 17th Century Inn, with all modern conveniences added sympathetically: dog friendly, yet spotlessly clean. Kind and patient reception staff, able and willing to cope with our changing plans: a wise and knowledgeable landlord, presiding over a good store of craic, and very well chosen liquid refreshment. Kitchen and serving staff with apparently all the time in the world, but coping with a busy wedding celebration, and a well put together separate menu for the dining room. All of them with a friendly smile on their faces! Within a stones throw of the busy M62 corridor and its cities, yet a haven of peace, tranquilly and relaxation. And all this at a very reasonable cost. We were travelling to visit family - we will make any excuse to return for a rest! A big thank you to all the staff at the Black Horse, and we will see you again soon I hope.

We had our wedding reception here in June. The weather was perfect and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The food and drink were very good. We were able to sit outside in the courtyard into the evening which was lovely. The venue is beautiful and Lydia was very supportive and helpful when planning our reception and on the day itself.

From choosing as our venue to our wedding day, we've had so much fun planning our day. It was definitely perfect, having the best weather and finally having the same name as my boys. I loved every minute of it. I would definitely recommend as a venue, communication was excellent, from picking the details of our day to it actually happening was smooth. Any requests we asked for was accommodated, Lydia was helpful whenever we had questions or ideas. I couldn't of picked a better venue for our day, it suited us to a tee!

Lovely place food was great and a good price. Room was comfy and I was made to feel at home by the staff. I left my car key in the room and the lady rang me (I was in the works van) to tell me that I had. It was too far to go back so she very kindly sent it on.
