Love this small hotel.

After coming here for 30 years I am truly disappointed with our last visit, so much so that we probably won?t be back. The front of house girl was surly and unfriendly verging on acting superior. Food was rushed with lamb not allowed to rest and quality was average but the cost above average. Needs to improve massively

Over priced and pretentious. Inside area dated and outside area feels chavvy and messy. Veg and vegan options very expensive for what they are and extremely limited

The food was awful and very disappointing certainly not worth the money, and a bad tummy for the privilege! Thanks very much NOT!

Let?s start with the food?because, thankfully, that?s where this place shines. Our table tried a solid range: fishcakes, focaccia, mackerel, charcuterie, surf and turf, and the lamb trio. Each dish hit the mark. Flavours were well-balanced, ingredients fresh, and presentation better than the vibe deserved. Honestly, the kitchen deserves a raise. Or at least a table of their own to sit at and mourn the rest of the experience.
Now, onto the ambiance, or as we like to call it: ?Who left this gastropub in café mode?? For a place billing itself as a brasserie, we expected something? brasserie-ish. Instead, the décor felt more ?weekday lunch at a mid-range garden centre? than ?pricey evening out.? Lighting? Flat. Tables? Small. Atmosphere? As confused as we were when our starters were dropped on the table while we were still figuring out how to eat our nibbles (and wondering why our booking felt like a surprise to the staff).
Speaking of staff, they were friendly?very friendly. All of them. To all the tables. All the time. We were served by roughly every human in the building at one point. No dedicated server meant everything came a bit scattershot: booking? Not acknowledged. Timing? Chaotic. Space on table? Fictional.
Drinks were solid though, especially the wine list. Whoever curated that deserves applause?and possibly a different job at a restaurant with some actual ambiance.
Verdict: Great food in a setting that feels like a hospitality school group project. Go for the food, lower your expectations for the rest, and maybe bring your own table.

Delusions of grandeur!! Visited the brasserie recently and was shocked at the prices. Yes it's a nice hotel in a glorious setting....but so are lots of places. The staff were friendly but the meal was underwhelming, miniscule portions and ridiculous prices. £46 for a bottle of prosecco......Totally overrated, competition is fierce so you need to up your game.....I won't be back

Dined here many times and always a great experience. The team are excellent, Connor always goes above and beyond and always makes you feel so welcome. He is an absolute credit to you.

The Sunday menu here is a fixed price 2 or 3 course. No sly hidden extras, and top quality cookery. The portions are not huge, but if you opted for just 2 courses, that's probably on you. Service was friendly and pretty quick, but occasionally slightly chaotic. Overall, highly recommended. The wines by the glass are worth mentioning too, a bit more about them than you often find.

Tiny portion sizes. 'Duck brest' (quarter of a breast) was served cold which I found strange
Overall three course menu felt like a tasting menu and we all left hungry
