This summer my wife and I are having lunch at several wineries in our area. Our visit to Wiston and their Chalk restaurant was the latest. The food was good but from a limited menu for our tastes.
It was disappointing that the selection of wines from their winery was diminished by a lack of available stock.
The dining room is pleasant but bland in layout and suffered somewhat from the the close proximity of tables and the acoustics effect of hard surface surroundings.
Together with the highest cost comparison of the similar winery lunches we have had to date it wasn't our favourite venue.

A birthday treat for my wife. Staff, setting, service and estate wines were excellent. The food was exceptional and good value.

What a wonderful 60th birthday lunch with my family! The food was amazing, staff were brilliant and the restaurant and courtyard was beautiful. Everything together made my special birthday even more special. So glad I chose Chalk Farm!

Absolutely beautiful food! I love that the menu is created around fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced produce?it really shines through in every dish. The winery setting makes it such a special experience. Even as a non-drinker, I can see how amazing the wine selection is, and I?d be excited if they added a few more non-alcoholic options like mocktails or 0% wine to complement the menu. That said, I can?t recommend this place highly enough?the food is simply outstanding!

Wonderful wine tour with testing; amazing wines, very knowledgeable and engaging host. And a phenomenal dinner at Chalk. Just wow! Would give 6 stars if I could:-)

We had such a great experience at Wiston! We took the Vintage wines tour and it was excellent; the tour guide was passionate and funny and engagin. It was a very special day

This is the second time I have eaten at Chalk restaurant, and you always think will the second time be as good as the first! Well it was amazing, the Octopus starter is one of the nicest plates of food I have eaten in a while. Too many chefs put too many ingredients on a plate and the dish does not work but this was a dish I did not want to end. Also front of house staff were excellent. I highly recommend eating here and also make sure you try there fantastic sparkling wines as good as champagne!!

The main part of the restaurant is the excellent food it serves. The actual restaurant is well laid out with no pomp and the staff are extremely knowledgeable of their dishes and wine. All in all a very enjoyable and comfortable experience for those who appreciate excellent food.

Imaginative and delicious food. We had brought our daughter and her husband for a meal to celebrate her birthday.

We had a wonderful lunch at Chalk after a circular walk up to Chanctonbury Ring. Food was exceptional, service perfect, we sat in the courtyard in the shade of an umbrella. Hard to see how it could have been any better. Too often we feel a bit hard done by when one spends on higher priced food, but we came away feeling like it was worth every penny.

Another wonderful lunch at Chalk - our second lunchtime visit. The food was exceptional, thoughtful, beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were warm and friendly, welcoming and personable without being at all intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the food and answered our many questions perfectly. Impeccable service from all of them.
Expensive? Not for this quality, this ambience, this setting at the foot of the Downs. Value for money? Of course it is.
We will be back as soon as we have the slightest excuse. I hope Chalk continues to produce food of this standard for many years to come. It helped that we washed it all down with a couple of glasses of the estate Rose....
