Great place for brunch and baked goods. Ordered the smoked salmon and avocado toast and it was a very generous portion for the price. What stole the show was the chocolate brownie which was fudgy and rich, I had to buy an extra to take home with me! Friendly staff and lovely relaxed atmosphere

Stopped before popping into the gallery. I am coeliac and get very nervous about eating in cafes etc, however, I enquired about the gf toast, and was instantly asked if I was coeliac, I was advised that my snack would be prepared in a designated area away from other food. The guy serving was extremely attentive to my needs. I had gf toast and muggle hubby had a croissant both had hot drinks, would definitely eat here agin.

The Hungry Guest owes our company nearly £1000 and is refusing to reply to emails or telephone call.

Excellent little spot for a coffee, breakfast or brunch.
Friendly and efficient staff and a great location in a walled garden.

We used to loved the Hungry Guest but it has sadly gone downhill since it moved to the new site. Our food was so so; perfectly adequate, although the toasted bread seemed very ordinary - unlike the lovely bread you can buy at the shop. However both our coffees were awful; the americano (with requested double shot) was watery & thin & the oat milk cappacinno had the most terrible flavour (sickly sweet)! Very odd....

Showing other cafes and restaurants what a proper portion of bacon looks like!
A highly stuffed, highly tasty bacon bap with brown sauce. One of life's simple pleasures served freshly cooked with a mighty fine Mocha to drink.
Excellent and friendly staff, nice outside covered setting with blankets laid out in case it gets chilly.
Not the cheapest, but absolutely the best.

I have been reading about the HG for a number of years and came over to petworth (1 hour drive) to eat in the cafe. We were so disappointed by a few of the things we experienced. .
We were there for brunch - we had 2 sausage baps, they were sadly in dry rolls. The people who ate them both had funny tummy?s / nausea after.
I asked for sour dough instead of brioche, and I was given 2 chewy slices of bread. Not sour dough. It was incredibly expensive for what we received.
However We went to the bakery and bought sour dough and cakes that were beautiful. This made up for it.
It was such a shame on Mother?s Day weekend. May be were unlucky.

Love the warm atmosphere even when it wasn't busy and cold.
Had the best soup there - can't remember what type but it was rich and thick and super tasty with a big chunk of fresh bread.
Really kind and polite and personalized professional service.

Visited the Hungry Guest Cafe when it was in its old location and it was fabulous. Today was a totally different experience. The cafe is now outdoors only which seems like a very strange decision but covered by big parasols and there are blankets. When it came to ordering drinks we wanted to order breakfast tea and were told they had run out of tea, and only had peppermint. It is a Sunday but no cafe that is efficiently managed should run out of tea. There is a Co-op shop just across the car park so a bit of initiative from staff could have seen the problem solved. After a wait of approximately 45 minutes our food had not arrived and a waitress came to clear our drinks and asked if we had finished. We are pretty sure they had forgotten to put the food order through as it was only quiche and salad and a sandwich and the cafe was not that busy. When the food eventually came it was tasty but sadly slightly ruined by the wait. Having said that staff were extremely polite and friendly but won?t be enough to make us visit again. What a shame.

Stopped for a coffee and cake. Cute place but outdoors and a little cold but blankets are provided. Coffee was good but croissant was a bit hard on the outside. Service was a bit slow but apparently due to new staff.

We always stop here for a couple of sandwiches and a drink after a long walk at Petworth Park. Staff are welcoming and always friendly, lovely cosy atmosphere. The Croque Monsieur is our favourite bite, oozing with melty cheese and thick cut ham - delish!

Hugely disappointed - spent £15 on a flat white and a ?croque monsieur?. Flat white came in a paper cup and the croque m was just gross. It was nothing more than some ham and cheese in two bits of over done toast. It came in a paper bag wrapped in napkins, napkins all stuck to the toastie.Couldn?t actually eat the toastie it tasted that bad.Overpriced, no atmosphere and not great food.Very disappointed as really like the Hungry Guest deli shop in Petworth.

Was really looking forward to going to Hungry Guest new venue but was so disappointed. Not a patch on original cafe. There were a total of three people in there but the server insisted he was so busy we couldn?t have china cups as he didn?t have time to wash up so we had to make do with paper cups. No plate for our cake either - same reason given - so cake in a paper bag. Just not good enough and won?t go back again.
