We had an amazing weekend stay here. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. But, most importantly, the service was stellar. Mark and Sharlene, the managers, are fantastic. They are warm, friendly, kind and super helpful. They were always in good spirits, and made us feel wonderfully welcome.Would highly recommend this place without reservation.

The staff, whilst on the whole friendly - though not all by any means - had an air of superiority, almost as if we should be grateful to be eating there, rather than their being thankful for the custom. But by far the worst experience was some of the food: the Thai green veg curry was little more than green peppers and onions, despite the menu promising an array of veg, the side of peas were like bullets and the hot chocolate fondants were barely lukewarm, resulting in a gloopy mess of chocolate rather than a rich, silky dessert. One of the desserts that was meant to come with blackcurrant and liquorice sorbet turned up with vanilla ice cream, was sent back to the kitchen and returned with the same ice cream and a terse, 'there is no blackcurrant & liquorice'. When the charge for the Thai curry was challenged, that was met with a very sharp, 'it would have been nice if you'd told us at the time'... Indeed it would and so we would have if anyone had bothered to enquire of the table after serving but they did not. And what would have been even nicer is if the food had even remotely resembled the menu description in the first place! Overall a very disappointing experience and definitely not worth the £200+ price tag. The Halfway Bridge Inn is, in our opinion, only halfway there in food and service...

Absolutely delicious food! Had a very nice starter (cherry tomatoe "fondue" with goat cheese) and probably one of the best fish & chips in my life, very light! The steak my partner ordered was also great, not to mention dessert (chocolat fondant). The chef definitely knows what he's doing and he seems to have fun doing it! Highly recommended if you're in the area.

The food is just exceptional, we had the beef roast and the pork roast, gravy and vegetables cooked to pure perfection! The FOH lady manager/ we never asked for her name/ is making everyone so very welcomed, she was super attentive and chatty in the most pleasant way , I give her personally 6 stars ? ?

Stayed here for a wedding last weekend and had the most impeccable service. Modern and cosy rooms and the best breakfast ever!

Beautiful setting, well appointed rooms with lovely extra touches, e.g. fridge in the room with complimentary mini bottle of fresh milk, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious; not a massive choice but very plentiful. Very quirky with lovingly maintained gardens and courtyards. However, if you?re looking for a wheelchair accessible venue be warned - there is no wheelchair accessible toilet in the bar/restaurant area and there are cobbled areas and deep gravel paths to navigate. The bedroom that was advertised as ?accessible? would be fine for someone with limited mobility who can cope with a 6?step in the approaching path to the room and another 6? step up into the coconut-mat covered lobby area. The room itself is very spacious but the en-suite is tight to get a wheelchair into. There are no grab handles/rails in the bathroom and there is 2-3? step up into the shower cubicle. I would happily recommend this delightful place to my able-bodied friends but not to those who rely fully on a wheelchair.

By far my favourite pub in the area, always welcoming, great selection of drinks and the food is always outstanding. Great for walkers and cyclists as it's a stones throw from the Southdowns way.

Enjoyed a fantastic stay with a large group staying in various rooms in the charming outbuilding this weekend. We found the staff to be incredibly helpful and friendly and were flexible about a later check in for one room. The rooms were cosy, beautifully furnished and comfortable. The lavender-lined green outside our rooms was so pretty and a lovely place to sit and chat. Highly recommend a visit; thank you to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Called in here on our way home from Gatwick to have a drink and dinner. Drinks were lime and sodas, most we ever paid each, was £1.50 for 2 small glasses, here £3.00 each! Meals were over priced and on top of was a 12% service charge. Worst of all was all the time we were eating we had to put up with the manager having a heated meeting with a member of staff. Very unprofessional and embarrassing for us trying to have a quiet meal. We will never go back there again. Avoid.Food & drinks: Overpriced!!!

Room pleasant enough but breakfast was disappointing, very limited choice, only one cereal to choose from. On our last day had a different waitress who was quite rude, the previous couple days the waitress was lovely, a very pleasant young girl but on day we were leaving we asked for brown toast but waitress replied, don't think we have brown, she brought white toast over and said no brown so here's white and practically threw it on the table and toast was rock hard and very dry, could not eat it and we found that she rushed everything, her whole attitude was wrong. I had vegetarian breakfast and asked for no mushrooms, it came with mushrooms and the tiniest amount of scrambled egg, the potatoes were not very nice not what I was expecting a pretty tasteless breakfast. I happened to see a lady eating yoghurt and fruit which wasn't on the menu so had to ask for it, there were no pastries a very basic menu. Our first night we also booked a table for a meal in the evening and I got the smallest piece of seabass was still hungry afterwards and my husband ordered one of the only vegetarian meals on menu which was very dry and just didn't taste very nice. We also asked for a bottle of still water for our room instead of sparkling and I'm pretty sure it was tap water as I could taste the chlorine! Very average stay overall but the day we arrived the manager that greeted us was very friendly and so were the young girls at breakfast until we got the more mature one on the day we were leaving who we found very unfriendly like she couldn't wait to get rid of us!! We paid for breakfast yet couldn't even order brown toast, very poor service!

A bittersweet review as the location, grounds, food and drink was superb however the service was inconsistent. Amazing service whilst checking in and throughout the evening however there was a lot of quibble the next morning over room rates / room occupancy which really put a dampner on our stay. We spent a lot of money on dinner , drinks and the room itself so didn't expect to be greeted in the morning with such "computer says no" attitude. All in all a good stay though, and we would return.
